I just found this on Qobuz. Nice.

Saturday we hiked the local canyons as the weather was most cooperative and we could enjoy the ice falls.

This morning’s first listen is percussionist Patricia Brennan Septet Breaking Stretch.

If two words ever belonged together: ice falls

Tell me about it.

It will be even warmer today! Looking forward to some walks.

Recently SquidCo had a sale of back inventory for a NicePrice. I took the opportunity to pick-up a dozen or so Satoko Fujii releases, this being one of them.
From 2013 on the Circum Libra Records label is Kaze Tornado featuring Satoko Fujii, Christian Pruvost, Natsuki Tamura, and Peter Orins.

Cold weather again. . . at least this morning. Ye olde dachshund Fiona is not pleased. I’m warming up with some Monk’s music.

Frank Kimbraugh “Monk’s Dream–The Compositions of Thelonious Monk” 6 cd set, disc 5

This is a fascinating set. Very true to Monk, yet its own thing, and Scott Robinson in particular shows how amazing his gift is for anything with a reed at the end.

followed by

Duke Ellington “Such Sweet Thunder” Columbia cd

This might start another Ellington binge. Love this music so much.

Miles Davis second quintet in transition, and the last assemblage featuring the core members Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams for the June 1968 session. A September 1968 session substituted Dave Holland and Chick Corea for Ron and Herbie. Directions in Music by Miles Davis indicating a change from Miles on Filles de Kilimanjaro. Petit Machins (Little Stuff) and Mademoiselle Mabry (Miss Mabry) stand-out. The latter a tip of the hat to Miles’ new bride Betty Mabry, featured on the album cover.
