Chicago’s one and only Curtis Mayfield of the Impressions, on his film soundtrack with a social message, Superfly.
I am really enjoying discs by this singer from the Netherlands.
Josee Koning E Grupo “In Concert At Nick Vollebregt´s Café”
Harish Raghavan “Calls For Action”
I missed this one when released, the bassist’s first as a leader. What a band! I’m not sure I would make the same engineering choices, but the music is very good.
Alto Saxophone – Immanuel Wilkins
Double Bass – Harish Raghavan
Drums – Kweku Sumbry
Piano – Micah Thomas
Vibraphone – Joel Ross
A perfect listen anytime day or night!
Someone on a VPI or Magnepan Facebook page posted a snippet of their system playing this album, and I liked the music and sound so much I went right out to Discogs and got myself a NM copy of the LP: Alexander/Pedersen/Tate “Threesome” on Soul Note SN 1152 from 1986.
wish I had a TT that could adjust VTA on the fly, sweet VPI Prime 21
Update: listening now, though digital, good stuff
