Paul Quinchette “Vice Pres” Verve Elite cd
Snow at last! Being next to a forest of bare trees for over a week takes its toll.
Since it’s an election year, time for the Lester Young “disciple” known as the Vice Pres, Paul Quinchette.
“This CD compiles the albums The Vice ‘Pres’ and Sequel, plus some alternate takes.”

“Arthur Prysock and Count Basie” Verve LP
Benny Goodman “1944-1945” Chronogical Classics cd
Hot and sweet V-Disks and swinging Columbia sides.
Sheesh, I haven’t thought of him for decades! Thanks
Its quite the blues LP!
Didn’t get much chance to listen yesterday. This morning I’m squeezing in some listening. After re-listening to the second half of the Benny Goodman Chronogical Classics cd I spun yesterday (that Quartet and Quintet material for Columbia was just fantastic with Red Norvo, Teddy Wilson, Morey Feld and in the Quintet the amazing Slam Stewart–and the Columbia engineering was just innovative and wonderful) I am now spinning Barylli Quartet “Mozart String Quartets” Japan UHQCD. An additional viola does a lot for this music. Sound is as good as the Beethoven recordings also reissued this year on UHQCD.

Miguel Atwood Ferguson - Les Jardins Mystiques Volume 1, cd 1
This is interesting. . . and very well-recorded.
A new Joel Ross album, with the bonus of Immanuel Wilkins on board! Exciting for me as these are two of my favorite musicians of this decade.
Joel Ross, “Nublues” Blue Note cd
A great version of Coltrane’s “Equinox” here. This is a good album, as his previous have been as well.
Followed by
Tom Harrell “Roman Nights” High Note cd
A working band, and that is heard here in a tightness and confidence.
J & K “StoneBone” RSD reissue vinyl A&M/CTI
JJ Johnson and Kai Winding in a funky setting. Benson is really good here.
Followed by another master trombonist recorded about 7 years beforehand.
