Flagged Posts

It’s just a tribal reaction from somebody in the tribe on the opposite side of the hill in the jungle. They used to use spears and arrows to sort those issues out, now they have the power of puff the magic dragon.

Everyone has always had the ability to flag posts they felt were inappropriate. It has become more popular after my recent thread explaining how they work. Brodric has flagged posts as well.

Typically posts containing snide comments, digs, passive aggressive insults, hostility, taunting, etc. get flagged. A couple of hours ago RonP commented on such things.

It is pretty easy for everyone to get along if all make an effort to do so.

That’s right…the existence of that particular feature was revealed to all here only very recently. Prior to that it was known by only a few. It has become a new tool of the tribes.

And a tool you have used as well.

The flag feature has always been there at the bottom of every post. It is not new and never hidden.

And see my post above.

Let’s please now move on and stick to the topic at hand. If you have any question regarding how flagging works, please PM me.

It’s newly known to many people, as evidenced by its rapid popularity since its existence was recently revealed. And it is hidden unless you know where to find it (under the 3 dots).

Hmmm, maybe not hidden, but definitely obscured (by clouds?).

 I like calling the dots “clouds.”

It may be a difference in experience, but I am accustomed to this symbol, as well as the hamburger menu, to denote more options. Being a curious animal, I always take a look when I see a menu, however denoted.

In any event, everyone following along is now aware there are tools and options at their disposal.

The thing that got me was I don’t recall any posts being flagged until just in the last few days when there were several. Most (all?) seemed pretty tame by what I have seen recently so I was surprised this was an option. I should have noticed the three dots, but didn’t. Now I know … By the way, my reference in parentheses was actually an obscure (groan) reference to Pink Floyd, one of their LP’s was titled “Obscured by Clouds”. Of course, the three dots could be considered as clouds, but now I’ve gone too literal. It’s more fun to be obtuse!

Which was my point exactly, in response to the “it’s always been there” point. The feature has now been weaponized by the tribes to suit their own purposes. Hence its deployment in pretty tame circumstances as you’ve rightly observed.

I was unaware of this. This makes the reference even more amusing.

As I mentioned, it may be a question of experience; the three dots to me means “More options here.”

Edit: A quick additional note: I recall every forum I have visited has a means to report a post to the administrators.

You seem to forget you flagged posts as well, as happy as anyone to use this “weapon.”

The flurry of flags yesterday were of posts which contained deliberate personal insults, gratuitous digs, etc. - all suitable for flagging. Perhaps “tame” in the ways of the big, wild world - but wholly inappropriate here.

This forum has sadly lost a great deal of its civility.

No, I haven’t forgotten I flagged posts. Was just returning fire, happy to use the ammunition provided.

Welcome to the tribe.

Why does this post get flagged?

It was flagged under the spam category. How it can be such, when it was a screenshot of a link in a previous post which was not flagged, is the mystery. One might speculate it was flagged as spam by the tribe on the hill across the valley, because they are of the tribe on the hill across the valley, whereas I am not.

Well, you are a tribesman, just from the hill on the other side of the valley. Nothing to be ashamed of, in my opinion.

Yeah, it’s a long walk down the hill, across the valley, and up the hill on the other side. The magic of the puff button previously hidden in the clouds has reduced tribal warfare to the comfort of ones own hill top.

Even tribesman in the remote territories of Audiolandia cannot escape the influence of modern technology. Point, click and puff away.

But only one “Tribe” is whining about it.

Whining about what, the new cloud based ammunition?
