Gryphon 40

Time to upgrade?

Is it a rebranded 333?

I couldn’t tell the difference from the look of inside and outside between D40 and D333, and I could not find the specification for D40 either. The price is a lot higher though.

Got to pay for all that new marketing somehow

Ha, I am out for sure. My D333 just finished breaking in, I think.

Gryphon 40 at Euro 23,800, equivalent to $27,500. Assume the tariff adds 15%, >>> $31,625.

I posted on the Gryphon 40 last week on the 333 thread because from what I can tell it’s a rebadged 333.

This must be the upgrade:
“Each amplifier will arrive with a leather-bound owner’s manual, a personal 40th-anniversary letter from Rasmussen, and a hand-signed sketch of one of his original design concepts — details that underscore its commemorative status.”

Shoot! I just checked and mine came with hard cover plus a velvet bag, not leather. Can I just upgrade the menu and bag?

If it was special it would be silver.

In that case the name should be “Gryphon 4VINCE”

Maybe the leather book is silver.

As a Gryphon 333 owner… I must say, I do like the Gryphon 40’s slight aesthetic changes… In particular the new center hump on the top plate which then also affects the back panel.

To me, it is a clear nod to one of it’s older brothers in the previous generation… The Mephisto Solo.

As special 40th anniversary piece I would like to of seen the same top as the Apex and Commander a metal Gryphon in silver or gold finish.

I completely agree! That would have been the Best decision… especially considering the Diablo 333 is their flagship Integrated Amp plus their Best selling Amp by far! :flexed_biceps: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I heard from Rune Skov after sending him a message and he confirmed electronically the 333 and the Gryphon 40 are identical. I think everyone knew this but I wanted some confirmation.

Then, will this collector’s item gain value over time? :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Most likely not. But it will please the right owner.

That is exactly right… I have one friend who has been on the fence about getting a 333 as he does have some other solid gear but wanted something new for another room… well, as soon as this came out, he’s now sold on it. As an Anniversary edition, it will be paired with a 50th Anniversary Wilson Audio WATT/Puppy in a modestly sized room.
