I’m not going to totally discount what you’re saying, especially since I’ve never heard the BHK 300’s nor the Gryphon Apex, but something doesn’t quite add up here. I know expensive doesn’t always mean better, but we’re talking about what many well respected reviews and YouTuber’s consider one of the finest amplifier manufacturers out there, and the Apex is the Pinnacle of their work. Hard to believe the 300’s, which I believe to be excellent amplifiers, being that I own a 250, outperformed Gyphon’s top line statement piece.
No dealer would still be demoing gear in their showroom three years later that they lost the right to carry and sell. It would have been blown out at cost a long time ago. And like Al said certainly not with speakers in that price range. Doesn’t have to be Gryphon but certainly not the BHK pair.
I listened to the $50,000/pair Infigo Class A monoblocks at Axpona (and did not know their price at the time). They sounded REALLY good, REALLY clean, to a quality level that I am not accustomed to, and have a feeling (from others) that Gryphon is considerably more refined than this level.

Well, he didn’t say why they preferred the PS stack. Perhaps they liked the case size more. Or the cost. Or the lack of any requirement for new electrical run in from the nearest substation…
It’s all in the setup. If you work on it, you can set up a fairly inexpensive system to sound pretty impressive. It is even easier to misconstrued the setup of a very expensive component and make it sound terrible. I’ve seen and heard it in many hi-fi shows.
My Gryphon Diablo 300 spanked my BHK 300 Monos… so if the 300 Monos spank the Apex… my Diablo 300 is worth its weight in gold! I guess I got a HELL of a deal.
I understand that it is hard to believe it. To be honest I was shocked.
This was no dealer presentation. My friend bought Chronosonics, Vivaldi DAC, PS 20 Power Plant, BHK300/Preamp, Taico streamer, Shunyata and Tara Labs top cables.
He wanted to buy better amps and preamp, so dealers were bringing many different units to his house and we were listening to them with few other friends.
His final choice was Hyperions (also hybrid amps).
Some time ago we also listened to Gryphon EVO and it sounded better than APEX in our opinion of course.
Maybe some of you prefer huge and deep stage, but each of us have different preferences. We prefered „seating” in the 1st raw than in the 20th.

I haven’t heard either amp as well, but has anyone ever previously described a BHK as a 1st row type of sound? Esoteric, sure. Sim Audio, okay. Musical Fidelity, check. But BHK? Everything I’ve read about the BHK sound is that it tilts to the warm side. And Gryphon is 10th row in comparison, from a brand that at worst is described as neutral, almost never warm? Something is not adding up with these descriptions of the sound.
Sonic preferences vary and I’d never fault anyone for choosing what they like, and all the better for them if they prefer something much less expensive. I’m not taking issue with what they prefer.
I just am finding it hard to believe that BHK has a 1st row presentation (which tends to mean extremely detailed, emphasized high frequencies, versus a 10th row sound) in comparison to Gryphon. That just doesn’t compute.
Not buying any of it. No dealer has an Apex. Especially not one that they drop off at someone’s home. I ordered my Apex the week it was announced and it is just now shipped.
Well at least one dealer does (Apex and Commander), and they did or soon will drop it off at someone’s house (let’s call it a lab), but I guarantee that someone does not currently have BHK 300 to compare it against, and would laugh at the notion anyway (different class of equipment in price and performance), though he did own BHK 300 at one time and thus is qualified as to assess.
Rather, the Gryphon duo will go head2head vs Boulder 3060/3010 in the same room/system.

More to the point, you were spreading misinformation (“no dealer has Apex and wouldn’t drop it off at someone’s house”), and I corrected that misinformation.
I have real world experience with both my own BHK 300’s and I spent quality time with Al’s Antileon EVO and **in my opinion ** there’s no contest between the two of them. I can’t tell you if I’m front row or the nose bleed section I can tell you what I hear when I hear a system that I hear instruments that sound like they are in the room, voices extremely realistic, and subtle nuances in a recording that probably aren’t meant to be heard. Sustain and decay in every piano key every guitar string pluck etc. The magic of the class amplifier! My BHK’s don’t deliver that. I love my BHK 300’s but if I were given a choice with an unlimited budget class A amps is what I would own.
I haven’t heard the Diablo 300 and the Apex so I can’t comment on them.
Okay. I am at @paul172 home listening to his wonderful system. He has the BHK Preamp and the BHK300’s. The soundstage is definitely not deep. It is very forward. I can see how someone might prefer that. To my ears it seems compressed and I personally prefer a bit of depth. But it is a personal preference and we all get to have them.
So I am saying I understand and appreciate the point of view of the new members post.
I am looking forward to personally prefering the Commander and Apex in my room. Yes sir.
