I think Class A has the purest fidelity to the parent input signal just based on simple (linear) amplifier architecture. Although a huge waste of electric power it is much more of a real world presentation and has more control over the speakers whatever type they are IMHO.
It also seems like the lower sensitivity speakers - in the 80’s range also require more of that authority and are very pleased when they get it.
I’m hoping you don’t suffer with that combo.

With Ben Webster’s Live in Copenhagen, at home, do you have illusion of being transported to the venue versus having the instruments sound like they are being played live in your room?

This is a question I’ve never thought of. I press play and enjoy. But if I must I would say in my room the sense of being transported to the venue would be more accurate than actual instruments playing in my room. The venue it was recorded in was a jazz club and my system gives me the sense of space. The instruments sound great on the BHK 300’s nothing sounds bad I just know it can sound better but how will that better sound cost?? 
So many variables in the Apex vs BHK. I would imagine if the 300’s are preferred than the 600’s would be even better. I heard @straightwire BHK 600’s and there is better control and command over the FR30’s. Effortless power and would be better with Wilson’s if had to guess. You could get four BHK 600’s and still have plenty of spare change.
The reason I ask is that I have heard it both ways depending on which speakers are connected. With the Infinity Modulus connected, the soundstage is further back and I feel the sense of being transported to the venue, with great depth and 3-dimensional imaging, and my walls completely disappearing. This is the case whether the CJ or PS Audio gear is connected in the system.
With the Sonist Audio speakers, the musicians are more forward (front row, lol), and it sounds as if Ben Webster is actually in the room. It is a wonderful magic trick, and is there whether the CJ gear or PS Audio gear is connected (or a mix of CJ and PS Audio). This is when listening to Ben Webster Live in Copenhagen.
I think cables have much to do with it more so than speakers or gear alone. Once you get the cables right then how the recording was miked will come through as different sources are playing. Giving either a grand venue or performers in the room based on what is playing and how it was recorded. I have witnessed great differences with metallurgy only being changed and same cable design.
I can tell which singer was in a booth or differences in mike placement and venue with one singer that laid down multiple tracks to sing their own backups. The same singer will move in the soundstage relationship or aft.
This was not always the case with lesser cables analog, digital and power cables.

His impression was that the BHK’s “seated” the listener closer to the stage while the perspective was farther back with the Pass amps.

Imagine how I feel, I don’t even have the BHK300’s, just suffering with the wonderful M1200’s, LOL
Those give you the sense of headroom the BHK 600’s provide.
And now you know why I am taking my time on picking a new amp. There’s so many things to consider. At first I really wanted all tube, but the prices of replacement tubes is pretty high and too frequent for my usage. I would rather put that money towards new speaker cables. Or another amp for my office.
Now I am focused on all Class A or AB with at least 15W of A. Interestingly, several manufacturers do not publish their Class A specs. For example Esoteric doesn’t. I had to dig a bit and after an email and a phone call I learned it was 2W. I believe that’s what the BHK 250 has, also unpublished.
