Gryphon Diablo 300 vs PS Audio BHK 300 Monos

I can’t directly comment on this Apex/BHK kerfuffle as I have not heard this comparison. Much of the debate centers on sound staging. FWIW, the BHK 300’s present a more forward image than the BHK600’s in my system. Better stated, I get more depth of field with the 600’s. This can also be altered by the type of tube, cable, and even fuse that is used. There is much more to an amp than whether it is forward, laid back, or whatever. And, microphone placement and mixing has more to do with our sense of where we are as listener than anything else.

Agreed/“Plus 1”.

My second system is in our NYC apartment. That system has been driving me crazy. First it was first row, then second row-mezzanine. Now, I’d swear it’s the third stall in the non-binary restroom.
What to do. What to do.

Classe says 12.5 watts in Class A, and is priced at $13k, so almost 1 watt per k for Class A. They do sound nice too.

Have you tried any full tube preamps with your BHK amp?
The reason I ask, is that I really like the Conrad Johnson tube preamp feeding the M1200’s, giving me a lush sound without having a bunch of power tubes to replace (on music that sounds good with the Sonist speakers and for ALL music with the Infinity speakers).
But I admit that i also like the solid state Parasound P6 preamp feeding the M1200’s feeding the Sonist Speakers that allows me to listen to a larger selection of music with the Sonist speakers.

Amplification and speaker description please, might as well throw the sources and room basics in too🙂

Would love to hear about your 2nd system

Thanks for the link. I am looking for a stereo amp not an integrated. If I truly commit to eliminating a TT, I can get mono’s, but I am still on the fence about the TT.

VPI Classic with a Sumiko Starling, Pass XP-17 phono stage, Decware SE84UFO 2.3 watt amp, Pass XP-12 line stage, PS Audio PST, Denafrips Pontus 2 DAC, ZU Audio Soul Supremes, Iconoclast OCC ICs, Iconoclast OFE speaker cables, Shunyata Delta V2 NR power cables.
The room is irregularly shaped and roughly 14 X 18 with 12 foot ceilings.
When renovations and painting are done, I’ll take a picture.

I am envious.
And my apology for thinking you were a troll.

No problem

I have to admit that these Ypsilon Hyperions with Ypsilon preamp sound amazing with Chronosonics.

The other really nice combo was CH Precision M10 amps and Preamp, but Hyperions gave more warmth sound (probably due to hybrid build) with similar dynamics and details.

That looks impressive…
Thank you Pawel

Noted :+1:t2:
Best wishes with whatever you decide.

This is coming from a guy who knows very little about turntables (@aangen can concur) if you have a large library of vinyl which I believe you told me you have I would keep the turntable. You will regret it down the road if you get rid of it. Maybe get a new turntable or cartridge to revitalize your love of vinyl. Just my opinion.

That sir, is a full blown analog/digital separates rig!

Maybe things a bit out of place due to renovation?

I took most of it home for the renovation.
I just installed a Soundsmith Sussuoro on the VPI and A/B’d it with my LP-12.
The LP-12 is a keeper for sure.

I’m bringing the thread back online. I hope to hear a Diablo 300 someday soon. @aangen enabler George at Kyomi Audio has one. As far as comparing them to my BHK 300’s I think I’ll just enjoy sitting in the front row for now!

FWIW, when I was auditioning new amps a few years ago, my dealer had BHK 300’s/250 and the Diablo 300.
Having put them all through their paces, I bought the Diablo.
I’m very happy with it…
