Gryphon Diablo 300 vs PS Audio BHK 300 Monos

The Diablo is a great package! Lots of power great design 1 box instead of one, two, or three. Unfortunately in my case I’d love it so much that the one case would have to be upgraded to to 1, 2, or 3 additional boxes.

Ha!
Well, you may want to consider the Gryphon Essence…

Preamp and Stereo = 2 boxes…
Preamp and monos = 3 boxes…

Volia!

When I decide to upgrade, I’ll likely go for the Essence…
probably 2 boxes, but maybe 3…

I said it a while back the Diablo line for Gryphon is just a gateway drug.

Absolutely!

Here you go:

I know where most gear is for sale right now, just ask me!!! :money_mouth_face:

Grab these and be done with it.

LOL.

So what’s the story with gryphon and support/service if you purchase a used product like this? I’ve heard you can’t get it serviced. Is that true?

Nice find

I don’t know if they won’t service them, but have heard that if you need service they are going back to Denmark. Perhaps @aangen knows.

Yes @aangen would know the answer. I thought I heard they will not service anything not purchased from a Gryphon dealer.

I imagine they sell no service manuals either? Taking units to a tech on poke and hope would be risky. Pro no hope for factory service parts either.

Keeps one in the family I suppose. I hope they have a Bryston warranty policy. Though it might not matter if it sounds great why sweat it.

Legend has it that all service issues for Gryphon gear must be handled by a Gryphon dealer. It is up to each dealer to decide how they wish to serve non customers.

Gryphon is really doing a disservice to there customers buying new if they won’t service used gear, that can make resale harder. They probably want their customers to trade in or sell back to the dealers.

I too find it unusual for a business to view an owner of one of their products as non-customer simply because they did not acquire it from an authorised dealer! Unless they’re keen on keeping themselves in an elite league for members only

Keeping the second-hand hifi market alive is important to this hobby and the last thing an audiophile would like to buy is a component that is hard or impossible to service!

Not a good way to win a customer over for a dealer to refuse service.

When considering Gryphon or any other new product the customer-dealer relationship is essential. When seriously considering a used component contacting your “local” dealer may be advantageous if it is not purchased from them. To my mind it would be short sighted for a dealer to not support servicing a used component, assuming it was not a gray market item. The dealer could leverage the service for future sales with the customer. One advantage of a brick and mortar audio store is the ease to establish such a relationship, eyeball-to-eyeball so to speak. When considering upgrading my primary system with MBL I ran into a similar situation. That project is on the back burner for now due to other priorities. Should one dislike MBL’s or Gryphon’s policies, seek out other options.

Dealers refusing service, not the sharpest pencil in the cup.

Late to this thread. I own the Gryphon Diablo and the BHK 300. I primarily use the Gryphon in one of my 3 hifi rigs. My BHKs I use as backup amps. That being said, the BHKs with a great preamp, and more importantly, with good tubes will generally sound better to me. I’m a tube guy though. I bought the Diablo for the sound and convenience and I love it. I’m getting older though, and no longer enjoy moving heavy mono blocks up and down stairs.

Agreed.

Matt, if you ever need help with that 2nd system, as in if you ever need a place to store the speakers, let me know. I am willing to help.
