Gryphon PowerZone

I am also at 14 days and am still trying to get a handle on just what the chameleon like Power Zone is doing.

“What it’s doing” or “describing it’s sound”?

Agree, but we are an impatient lot. There is a clear benefit upon initial listen, but subtle shifts as it burns in, with a few unexpected surprises along the way. My SabrinaX speakers seem to enjoy the ride.

To be revealed when I believe the break in is complete.

I moved my gear, including electrical, so it’s back to the edginess originally noted. I guess power lines need to break in too.

To coax a bit more out of the new electrical lines and expedite break-in you could run a space heater on them for the next few days.

For me the PZ was jaw dropping out if the box. It had a bit if edginess but it was wonderful still. The fact that it continued to improve was mind blowing.
I would say the break in process was more fun than troublesome.

My check list box for burn in did not include a tick mark by the technician that packed it up. So sadly mine was not given the requisite 40 hour burn in.

Just registered it.

What is your commission on these Gryphon PZ 3.10?

I would be happy to provide a burn in service to anyone that wants to ship their PZ to me

Guys, you wanted a big discount. This meant there was no burn-in and no audio testing. Extra requests cost extra. You forgot to order the burn-in. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Or hand deliver. Should you want to borrow it once your room is complete I’d be happy to offer mine for a loaner. My guess is your system could benefit from both a PZ 3.20 (amps) and PZ 3.10 (sources).

Not a complaint, but I was surprised Gryphon did not perform a brief audio test to ensure all was well prior to shipping. Mine works flawlessly, and sounds divine. I just want the burn in to wrap up. Once all was plugged into it I had no desire to return to a Power Plant or a Puritan.

I think I would start with the junior model for the source gear. I just set up separate grounded 20 amp lines for the 4 amps… Might have been better off allocating $ for a couple of the PZs. Right now dollars are flowing to creative room treatments. The empty room has a little echo right now.

It’s confusing to place a card without all the points checked off. Not a good feeling for the buyer. Gryphon should either create other control cards or check off all open points. I was informed about the following in the instructions for my Farad Super 10 power supply.

"Burglary As with all audio devices, Farad’s power supply and cables show signs of breakage Behavior in the first 500 hours with alternating voltage. The character and quality of this offer will be will appear immediately but will improve over this period. The sound becomes tighter, more relaxed and fluid. Always take this into account when evaluating power supply During this time. So I take comfort in that. "

The first day it sounded great and the following week it lacked resolution and dynamics.

The Furutech Vault power strip showed something bright in the treble on the first day. Now it sounds great. Very high resolution, dynamics and timbres. What’s most impressive, besides the extremely high resolution, is the spatial representation of the soundstage. It’s not that the stage is wider now. It is a very precise illustration. What fascinates me is the simultaneous openness and the change to a seemingly infinite depth from which sounds emerge that fascinates me most. When I listen to my playlist I sometimes think that I didn’t know the song before and it’s a different one.

Greetings Andreas

Less than Al’s I bet!

This is coming along very nicely. Once dialed in it will sound most sublime. The Gryphon PZ 3.10 for the sources would be a fine addition.

I’ll credit them with truth in advertising and leave it at that. I have a Furutech power strip around these parts, most likely languishing in a closet. It too took some time to settle in. I purchased it for convenience sake, and as a basic power strip it has been fine. Honestly, I did not expect too much from it!

I didn’t want to advertise and just describe my sound impressions. The Powerzone is certainly an impressive power bar. Just my thoughts, whether the Hafner module was installed to increase the sound in a direction that otherwise with only a high-quality cable can? Would that mean that anyone who uses a power zone with a Hafner module gets a good result even without a high-priced power connection cable? I think the top models from Furutech, Vault or the pure power 6 cannot be equated with your normal power strips. For me it is just the beginning of a journey. This is followed by an additional device for power processing.

I sure wish one of you PZ owners lived closer to me. I’d honestly love to hear one in my system. But for me it’s too much money to buy it without doing so first.
