I only ask because I feel the PZ can enhance weak links just as it does strengths. I owned M700’s and I enjoyed them. I think some of the issues may be more on the amps imo. I could be wrong.
a great choice - really is a stunning amp
What? 24 hours without posts on this thread?
Here I am… sooo beautiful music (week #4 seems starting well)
It was a busy day, and I just turned on my system now. Yep! It sounds lovely and I will not be changing anything for the rest of the day. Tomorrow I may change a speaker jumper, or not.
Welcome home, my friend! Can’t imagine how enjoyable this moment is for you… once the system has been turned back on.
Donald, you also feed your power zone with a great cable. I was also thinking about the Zenwave PSR 11 cable. Why I didn’t order it: 1. The price has increased compared to yours. 2. I would be subject to additional taxes and customs fees. And then I came across a forum where Dave and the V1 owners were confused about which cable was better. And when I got a great offer, I jumped at it. But I didn’t realize that the salesman’s last words would stick in my head like this: “I still have two that I would sell if anyone else wants some.” I hope it was the right decision as I have exceeded the price of a Powerzone with it after I decided to buy the other two V1s today. I didn’t plan on and never imagined that I would spend so much money on my power supply. And then there’s Luca with DC problems, which you could have without a filter, and the Schnerzinger Grid Protector, which is supposed to ensure more euphony and well-being.
Do I still need a grid protector and maybe a DC filter?
Greetings, Andrew
You have caught a big upgrade bug! But V1 sounds like an endgame cable so you should go for it if you are able to find a great deal. Enjoy the ride.
That’s what I think too, that it’s an endgame. I’m just afraid I’ll have to change something because the V1 cable is really not easy to tame. You can’t really create a bend except for the ends. A dragon is easier to move. Greetings Andreas
Donald and you enjoy your power zone burn-in. The Muon Pro should also arrive soon.
Endgame doesn’t exist, you know!
I was wondering what is still in my listening room around my chair after 4 years of this hobby, oh damn not even the chair…
Oh Luca, my chair has become too uncomfortable for me after three years.
I’m also thinking about changing my space. Now that I’m upgrading the system like this, the setup may no longer be optimal. The cables need more air around them to route them. Greetings Andreas
The PZ has been in my system for 4 weeks today. Nothing but positive sonic experiences.
If I do not count the two-week vacation while the system was on standby, PowerZone would be in its 3rd week of break in. Today the system sounded more beautiful than yesterday, so the break-in continues.
PowerZone seems to improve my SACD playback better than streaming. This is quite interesting since a few others have made comments that disc/LP got a bigger SQ jump over streaming, and I concur. This week particularly the discs sounded better. Maybe when Muon Pro system arrives the streaming would catch up again.
Donald, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that muon pro improves your streaming experience as much as it did for the others here. And the icing on the cake comes at the end. You definitely need another little box.
After the first 2 weeks of ups and downs also my PZ seems to be settled but still improving in a more linear incremental way.
Haven’t yet played a vinyl while a few CDs I listened to are as good as streaming in my system. Laziness plays a role, so I’m more playing music via Sense App. And I’m becoming familiar to this new beautiful sound day by day.
I put all the EMI sniffer and Puritan/GM City and Snubway/QKore/Russ Andrews plug-ins stuff in a drawer, definitely loving a one box solution - plug it and forget it - and a more relaxed mood just listening to music.
Life’s too short, take it easy!
At least until next upgrade, of course…
Wait, haven’t you tried plugging a CAD in PZ yet🤔
Nope! Following Paul Hafner advise I just tried connecting both the MSB DAC and MSB amp chassis with the PZ’s ground lug.
I have not tried connecting RouteMaster to PZ yet. All other components are connected with RM, and I wonder if it should be connecting to RM too according to Paul H.’s logic.
Did you hear any difference?
I tried connecting the Ground Master City to PZ directly, before definitely removing it from the system. Now it’s in my “dust drawer”. The other one is still connected to my second (remaining) Puritan PSM-156 feeding Innuos/Tempus/router PSU and analog rig on the rack of the side wall.
Paul Hafner suggestion is to connect the amp and sources chassis (not the unused inputs/outputs but the ground lugs, if available) to the PZ. To get a beneficial effect star grounding the components fed by the PZ. He underlined to do that only if no other grounding devices are already connected to the wall.
Here’s my CAD GCs are perfect, because they are truly passive, just connecting to components and not to the mains ground unlike the Puritan. As you know I have 6 CAD GC1s, one for each component, acting separately one from each other. They just drain/absorbs HF interferences from the devices that are connected to.
To be honest I can hear a difference using CAD boxes but star grounding DAC and Amp to the PZ is just a precaution (per Paul Hafner) to let the amp’s toroidal transformer work with as much effortlessness as possible.
If I can give you my opinion, Donald: enjoy the music thanks to PZ and forget about tweaking with it. I might have soon the real next step to focus on, be patient I’m working for you, in the meantime just relax yourself, my friend!
