My first priority would be to get the system to reliably maintain a history of first unread post (actually last post on page when thread was last accessed).
Second priority would be a fast and easy way to access this reliably recorded first unread post.
Personally, I would like to have a forum view option much like the last forum where it would display all threads regardless of subforum category in order of most recently updated at top. Add to this an unread post count button that would take you directly to the first unread post.
This would make it easier for OCD “must read every post” readers like Ted and myself to keep up with the forum and be reasonably sure that we have not missed anything.
Agree with J.P., but I would also like it if the ability to “dynamically see new posts in thread while composing” was able to be done with this system. I liked that on the old system. If it’s not possible then forget it.
BTW, quoting doesn’t work on my system unless I’m using Firefox. Won’t work on Win7 x64 and either IE9 or IE11.
This may be theme related because I am not getting it. I am using minimalist as its presentation most suits me.
Speaking of themes, where did the theme button go? OK, it is probably there and I am just looking right through it. It would not be the first time I missed something right in front of me.
Oh… Okay. That is fine for those of us who have a theme selected that we like. Personally, I would be rather unhappy with the default theme as it was last time I saw it several months back.
It is curious that if we are all now using the same theme that we are seeing different things.
Also it would probably be helpful to know what browser is being used and on what device it is being used. I am using Chrome browser on a Google Nexus 10 / Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat.
Still, that would not explain the difference between what I am seeing and what Frode posted.
Well, remember, there are two themes here: the mobile theme and the standard theme. If you’re on a mobile device you’ll see one view, on a laptop you’ll see another. Both have been updated, both should function close to the same.
While I am on a mobile device (Google Nexus 10) I request the desktop site for most sites including this one because it works better for me on this larger mobile device. When I get home I’ll check the desktop, but I believe that it works pretty much the same as I see now.
Okay, everyone reading this thread, please report what browser you are using and on what device. Also, some description of what you are seeing, or ar least compare to Frode’s screen grab posted above.
