Yep.
It should theoretically see the Red but you might want to try re-booting both the Red and the iPad and give the two a fresh start. Havenāt tried the Lumin app but I may still have it loaded on one of the iPadās if not itās in the cloud.
Or switch to Roon so I can help you.
Not me, not interested.
Tony
I tried the Teac HR Streamer app which is a pre-Leedh processing version of the Lumin app and more likely to work with other brands and it didnāt see the Red. If you like the Lumin app you want to reach out to Peter via PM on one of the other forums he frequents and see if he has any advice.
Are you running 2.5.0 or 2.5.1 firmware on your MkII? Previous firmware did not display the bit rate/depth when the I2S lock indicator is red (which it will be if you are using the Red as your source).
Ah, thank you! Iām still using the last beta before 2.5.0 came out. I had been waiting for the next release after Ted confirmed some other issues had come up with 2.5.0/2.5.1.
So far Iām really impressed with the sound quality of the Red. Setup was pretty easy, simply plugged it in, went to my router found the ip address, connected with my browser and hit update and it updated it to the latest March release. Just had to enable the audio device in Roon as usual.
Iāve currently only have it connected to my headphone rig which is Roon ā Red ā I2S to the DSD ā Holo Audio Bliss KTE ā Audezee LCD-5. When I get some free time over the weekend Iāll add it to my main system, which is what I bought it for. Iām interested in comparing it to Auralic Aries G.2 and very interested in trying out HQPlayer since this device has NAA. I heard the May KTE works very well with HQPlayer and this will be the first time Iāve been able to try it out.
So I have the switches on my Red set to 0-1-0-0 as indicated (IIUC) in the manual, as others have, and everything seems to be working fine. But Iāve seen other posts where some are running 0-1-1-0. Is one right and the other wrong? Are they both right? DS MkII DAC, in this case.
My Red came in over the weekend and after making the mistake of trying to follow the manual and flash the OS to the micro SDHC card which I didnāt know already had the OS on it, crashing my PC in the process and completely bricking the SD card, buying a new card, flashing the OS to that card, and installing it in the slot, the Red was finally working.
Iām using the DIP switch settings 1- Off, 2- On, 3 - On, and 4 - Off. After enabling Red in ROON, I have sound from Red to the MK2 via I2S to the MK2 I2S1 input.
However, the MK2 is not showing any information on the sample rate being received like it does from the I2S2 input which is connected to the PST.
Any ideas on what is going on and how to fix it?
Thanks
Mike
I just got mine yesterday and had the same questions. After reading the manual it looks like only one dip switch should be in the on position. Each on position is for a specific ALT configuration, if Iām understanding the document correctly. I have mine set to 0-1-0-0. If youāre in the US you can always reach out to Tim at Kitsune. Heās really good to work with but donāt expect an email back from him for at least a day.
I wasnāt getting I2S data readings from my Red until I upgraded the MKII firmware to 2.5.1. I have my DIP switches set to 1&4 off, 2&3 onā¦but not sure that makes any difference.
Iāve been working with Tim for the last couple of days to get it to this point. Heās been very helpful.
I wasnāt aware there was a new firmware update for the MK2. Mine has 2.3.6. Next stop, the MK2 download page. Thanks.
Has he said anything to you about the DIP switch settings?
For switch 1 and 2 yes. He said for PS Audio use the Alt 2 configuration Pin 1 Off and Pin 2 On. Iām waiting on a reply as to the position function of Pins 3 and 4.
Have updated the MK2 firmware to 2.5.1 and the FPGA to Antero 208.
That didnāt solve the problem. Instead of nothing, it now shows all tracks as being 44.1/16 and the colored dot is red regardless of what the track actually is. From either the I2S input from the PST and the USB input from the music server, the colored dot is green and the sample rate changes to indicate the correct sample rate of the track.
My MKII is showing the correct data feedthrough from the Red, but my light is red, not green, as with the USB input from the Red.
If I remember what Ted said on the āFirmware Updatesā¦ā thread, the light will be red if the I2S input/cable is not 100% PSA compatible. Does not mean anything is wrong with the data or the unit is not hooked up correctly.
Did you change the DIP switches to 1&4 off, 2&3 on? That might make the data show up.
Yes, the switches are 1 & 4 OFF (down) and 2 & 3 ON (up). The data rate shows correctly from the PST over I2S but not from the Red over I2S. The Red always shows 44.1/16 regardless of what the file rate actually is. I donāt know if it is just a display issue of if for some reason ROON is sending everything to the Red as 44.1/16.
Hmmm, sounds like it could be a Roon setup problem. Before going crazy with that, try rebooting your Roon server, the MKII and your Red, if you havenāt already tried that.
