How about concert photos?

Nice! I was just listening to “The Boatman’s Call”
tonight. Bet you had a good time.

I’ll bet that was a great show. Love his music and his “Red Hand Files” blog: https://www.theredhandfiles.com/

It was a really good show. He actually closed the set with “Into my Arms” from “The Boatman’s Call” by himself on the piano.

Buddy Guy - 05/16/2025
Virginia Beach Amphitheater

Buddy Guy is 88 years old now and put a very good show as the opening act. He was very talkative, told stories and played well. Concert had a 30 minute rain delay, so he was only able to play 6 songs.

Tedeschi Trucks Band - 05/16/2025
Virginia Beach Amphitheater

They put on an amazing show for 2 straight hours. Susan Tedeschi is a fabulous blues rock singer. First time I had seen Derek Trucks play live. He is an incredible guitar player.

Cool pics of the Buddy Guy/TTB show, thanks. “Soul Sacrifice” must have been incredible. Did Buddy sit in with TTB? (From the setlist, it appears not, but I can’t imagine that Derek Trucks would pass up a chance to jam with Buddy.)

Buddy did not sit in with them. I was hoping he would have come out. However, at 88 his nights might end a bit earlier these days.

Soul Sacrifice was awesome. TTB is at the beginning of this tour, so if you have a chance to see them they are definitely worth seeing. Buddy is playing on this leg of the tour with them. Later this year they are playing with Gov’t Mule. Love to see that show!

Sadly, no photos at this show. It was really enjoyable. The movie itself is good, with the live big band it’s awesome! I missed a few scenes of the movie while I sat eyes closed listening. If this show is playing near you, I recommend it. Winston Marsalis is remarkable.

I’m seeing TTB at Wolf Trap in a couple of months. Looking forward to a great show!

Beck live with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra

He was truly outstanding. Most of the show were the “sad” records, “Sea Change” and “Morning Phase”

Awesome. Wish I was there too and love Beck. I find Morning Phase more upbeat than Sea Change but love them both. Sea Change is a great example of how very painful experiences can result in unparalleled art. Beck broke up with his long time partner just before Sea Change was “born.”

‘Sea Change’ is the “better” album but I personally prefer ‘Morning Phase’. Both very sad records but ‘Morning Phase’ ends with hope.

He said during the show that when he brought Sea Change to the label they threatened to sue him because that was NOT a Beck record. It was not a big seller at first but eventually it took off and got recognized for the masterpiece it really is.

I think I read somewhere that he has a contract that lets him put out one record to satisfy his personal muse while the next one is a record designed to sell to the fans that want “Beck”. A “one for me…one for you” tick-tock rhythm. (Recall that this is an “I think I read” statement so it could be a hallucination as real as an AI one)
