I upgraded my system by removing ac cable connector lifters

I have been wondering why my system had lost it’s soundstage width and depth and low end frequencies. I had tried propping up the iec connectors of the ac cables to the Keces power conditioner and to the DSD Mk2 dac. What looked like a better connection had actually totally over damped the sound of my system. In removing the connector propping in the ac cables at the iec inlet at the Keces and Mk2 the sound completely opened up! I suppose in this case less is more. Much more. My system is back. The sound is nice. Live and learn.

Can you post a picture of what type of connector lifter that you were using? I have tried a number of plug supports (including wine corks) in the past, and found they would affect the SQ to a various degree. Some plugs only need a very light support at the end of plugs to improve the SQ, too much support would dampen the sound as you have experienced.

I just used foam and paper to hoist up the connectors. I would have to rebuild it to photo it and I don’t really want to rebuild it as it sounds bad.

Understand, some power cords affected by plug lifting more than others. For examples, AQ Dragon plug lifting changes SQ greatly but Stealth plug lifting does not make any SQ change that I can detect. The supports themselves make a difference too.

I can see this type of support would dampen the sound. I suggest you try the all metal column types. They usually give better SQ without damping the sound. However, it depends on what type of power cords you are using too.

I use these, but again on Stealth PC they are truly support since the SQ is not affected much by the lifters. In other cords they do, sometime greatly:

I guess there are some advantages to owning a less revealing system  - I do not have to worry about or invest in super-tweaks… did I just make up a new audiophile term?

I remember my wine-cork lifter days. No, they did not make SQ difference what so ever. But then I had a complete different system too.

My tweaking curse is almost over since I felt my hearing is getting worse than even one year ago, or maybe my system is good enough to immune to small tweaks now, well mostly.

:musical_notes: He’s a super tweak, a super tweak, he’s super tweaking out :musical_note:

As I am listening now without the lifters I find that the sound is much better.
