Identify the Components Game

Pics below were taken in billionaire Gordon Getty’s office/composing room published a few years back in the SF Chronicle.

The only component I think I can ID correctly is an Oppo BDP-105 but curious if others can ID others pieces in the rack and speakers?

I also wonder if he has a monster system in a dedicated listening room or if this is where a music obsessed/composer billionaire consumes most of his music?

Teac A6300 reel-to-reel. Lesser model.

I see a garden-variety '80s-era cassette deck, too. I’d wager nothing there is particularly interesting.

Here’s another challenge.

Are the components and speakers in this Helen Hunt/Mel Gibson movie real or just props? If they are real, any ideas on brands?

Mark Levinson and Revel

Today’s challenge asks to identify the brand of the speakers in the background of this video capture.

“Realistic”

They aren’t EgglestonWorks, correct?

Look like Eggleston to me.

Me too…:

This pic is from an eBay listing:

The final voicing on the original Andra was done by Albert Von Schweikert.

For extra points, who is the gentleman in the picture?

Michael Tilson Thomas. That one was easy.

For me as well, but many would not know who he is.

His name is fun to say, great rhythm - perfect for a conductor.

MTT is used often more than his full name.

Today’s challenge might be really easy for most but wasn’t for me.

Identify the components and speakers!

Snell Type A don’t know which series. I owned II’s.

A Rega CD player (?), a Sony DAT deck (?) and a Hafler amp (?).

No clue RE: speakers.

My best guesses…

Does look like an original Rega Apollo on top, no clue on the middle piece and amp doesn’t look like my DH-500 I ran my Snell’s with and they needed every bit of that power. Could be one of the later ones though. I paid the outrageous sum of $1400 for my Type A/II’s in 1981. My Son may still have them boxed up in his basement.

I owned Snell type A 1’s back in the 70’s. I traded them for an ARC SP10 preamp. When Peter Snell passed, I gravitated to Vandersteens. The Snells were designed to be placed very close to the front wall, making them ideal for apartment living.
