iPad IOS7 problem fixed

@frode - yep. Same. It is NFG.

(I now think I might have purchased on a NA store originally and my ipad is registered on the UK store…more software joy)

Another hour into it an still no joy. Rebooted everything several times reinstalled it on the ipad three times. Nas twonky rebooted, router Ipad, PWD rebooted and still no joy no PWD shown got it up again once and it immediately crashed the ipad program as per Twonky server does to the program. There has to be something wrong. I am not using the latest update to the bridge as it will not work with my pwd software 2.02 which is the best for my system.

The refresh button you see in the picture works for both renderers and libraries. Give it a try. I know it doesn’t look like it does, but it does.

The servers are updated, but it appears that the renderers are not. Still buggy.

Playing nicely at the moment but I will say that it is not stable.

Takes a whole system run through to get working and if it stops do it again.

Try first with redbook.

It does not seem to like hi-rez. it just scrolls the cover art on the ipad and won’t play till it reaches the “latest played” redbook in the playlist.

I am on EMM 32.03. I wonder if 27.15 would work any better. Anyone on it?

What I have experienced with it so far, as well as the comments here, brings back memories [or n’mares] of the EMM support fiasco of the past couple of years.

Re tune the network, IPs, reboots etc.

I understand fully what you are all going through…again.

I hope you kept all the notes from our tel-calls and emails. It is the same drill.

posted twice as I could not merge the two threads.

Has anyone figured out how to get the updated IOS7 on IPAD to work with Twonky, Elyric, and the Perfectwave Dac MKII with bridge to work?

Please list all the steps if you have.

Thank You.

@marshell1

Sorry, I’m not up on Twonky. I am using a Mac. I do enjoy the odd twinkie though.

Also do not forget that even EMM controller can take a while to load your library and account for losing the device occasionally as well as crashes. Depending on library size , leave it all on all night.

I reinstalled EMM on my mac and it still “loading the libraries”. [4 hours]

I hope this is why hi-rez will not play.

For those having trouble seeing the PWD in eLyric, try resetting the UPnP server. Worked for me. If you don’t know, type the IP address of your PWD into any browser (connected computer). The PWD page will appear. Select reset UPnP. Reload eLyric and all should appear.

Still think eLyric is not worth the effort. I only use to select SRC and filter.

If I have eLyric up and then do the resetting of the UPnP it then comes up and I sellect it but if i sellect twonky as a server it immediately crashes eLyric. then when I go in again the Perfect Wavw dac is not there and I have to reset the UPnp again to get it up.

My main problem now is that it crashes when I sellect Twonky which is the reason I got the Dac in the first place to listen to my music without a PC going. Please have a look at this at PS Audio.

The updated eLyric does not work with iPhone and iOS7. Like described already, it does not see the DAC. The search - button does not work, resetting the UPnP does not work.

An iPhone with iOS6 and the old eLyric shows the DAC but now does not work any further, what it did before using the updated eLyric.

That is a serious problem, since it means no more music with EMM and eLyric.

Using:

Bridge Version:0.2.14a

DAC Version Mark II:2.4.1

MacMini with Ethernet through AirPort to Bridge.

I had to do a completely fresh install of the app before it would even see the PWD. It also took three crashes and then another three minutes for it to find the PWD. The app looks worse than before - like it is held together with gum and paper…headers obscure ipad data at the top, boxes are incomplete etc.

OK - can we now please crowdsource a little project to get the clever windows application that valer_valer developed made into an app for different devices so we can control basic functions of the PWD from these devices? I think the time has long passed…

@dcastle

I’ll try to argue again for a better fix. PSA should give up on eLyric (they are clearly not a software company) and write the SRC and filter selection options into the PWD firmware. This eliminates the need to write and maintain an iOS app or an Android app or any other app. Simple firmware change. This way, the user selectable features are available from any browser on any system by typing in the PWD IP address.

I have contacted the developers again. The app seems to work ok on the iPad for us but now that we’ve updated it on the iPhone 5 the bottom menu tray is gone. Sigh.

We’ll get it working again. As I mentioned, we’ll commit the resources to making EMM work again with the new Mac OS and get it right. EMM isn’t the final path we’ll take but it’s what we have right now and we want to make it work for you.

This could be a challenge if you are on DHCP and not static.
Then you need to browse for the mac address or with Fing if you use a WiFi access point.

@frode

Agreed but easily resolved by assigning the PWD to a static IP. Honestly a static IP is kind of a prerequisite to getting eLyric to work well anyway. This was the first trick employed.

I wish to amend my post: the new eLyric is a buggy mess. It works, then not. Works on iPad but not on iPhone. Can’t find the bridge, then can, then can’t. Resetting UPnP works, then not.

This is no longer any fun. Instead of Hi end. I find it hi frustration.

It’s freaking broken… It used to work fine on my iPhone now it doesn’t…My iPods that have the older version on it work fine…All there is are music categories, artist tracks etc…all the stuff at the bottom it’s just blank no PWD no inputs no Library no filters no NOTHING…If I didn’t have the older version of elyric I’d be kinda screwed…

elyric is to buggy for me and died with the use of dsaudio and my Synology NAS and I am VERY happy with this combination. It is very stable on ipad and Android, love it.

@chris - Have you experimented with minim on your Synology NAS? it is even better than dsaudio.

It is nice to have in the sense that it is bullet proof (at least in my implementation) in the way that EMM/elyric have never been.

Based on chris' experience with DS Audio as the uPnP server embedded in the Synology NAS I tried this as well on my iPad, however the playback on the PWD was very unstable for some formats. When I tried other renderers it seems more stable. I made sure that either EMM nor WS & JRiver were in conflict as the uPnP server (I also rebooted the PWD).
The good thing with this was that the artist and song title appeared on the PWD display (but no album art as expected).
