@jamesh would you have any AC12 cables at PSA. I’m looking for a picture of the female end to see what an authentic molding marks look like, CE and PS logos.

I have 3, AC12 cables I purchased direct from PS Audio that I’m thinking about selling to fund a new PSA DAC. I believe the lengths are 3 feet, 5 feet and 6 feet. I also have 6 Aurios Classics Vibration control footers. I will have more details this weekend if I can bring myself to part with them. I do not have the original boxes.

I cut open a fake XLO top line Purple Rush from my junk pile to see how much trouble they went through to make this power cord. Even the ground consist of 6 separate wires, 5 copper and 1 silver,
The fake cost a few hundred dollars from EBay. The real one would cost six thousand dollars retail. The sound was actually not too bad from the fake, just a little bright and crude. But I do not have the real one for comparisions. At the time I thought $6k was a ridiculous amount to pay for just a power cable.

I’ve had several real AC-12s and one fake. Here’s what I learned: If it improves the sound over a courtesy cable, it’s real. If it sounds like shiit, it’s fake.

I have an AC5 that came with a piece of gear a couple of years ago. I emailed service a couple of weeks asking how to ID fakes and was told that, in addition to the typos, the counterfeits are relatively inflexible. By that measure the one seems to be real. The sounds better test fails me pretty every time.

In the beginning when I was getting all these fake AQ’s, Siltech’s, Nordost’s etc…, I thought I was really getting a bargain because I thought they sounded pretty decent until I started to get the real ones and compared them. Needless to say the fake one sounded like trash next to the real ones. I wasted all my money on all he fake ones. Live and learn.
