Monster was lamp cord in a cool wrapper and package. Not kidding.
Noel Lee was the Dr. Bose of cable. A supreme “salesman” whose business model is now being followed by another large American cable company.
I believe that!
Paul mentions him in the book.
I have AQ Wind interconnects. All bought because I needed balanced cables because of coming from another power amp without balanced output. The change to BHK250 with balanced input from a Krell pre222?? Very nice indeed, however I doubt that the cables made that change…
God morning…vsopking
As I read your post it seems to indicate you went from rca single ended interconnects to balanced xlr.
Yes indeed the xlr balanced ic did improve your sq because of the nature of how balanced xlr
ics work.
In my own.02 when I got my balanced preamp I ran it on single ended rca as that was all I had.
I was running BlueJeans rca. As a review I read stated just how much better the Parasound A21
amp sounded when the reviewer swithched to xlr balanced sounded. I decided then to get BlueJeans xlrs
from Oppo 205 to preamp to A21…The difference was more than I expected… good return on $$.
After about 2 years Nordost had a 30th anniversary 20% off sale…I went online to upscale audio
got 1 xlr Red Dawn to connect Oppo 205 to preamp…The change up in sq was not small (BlueJeans my
former go to). So off I go and ordered the next another set of Red Dawn xlr balanced to go from preamp to A21…and again another good increase in sq…enough so that I went ahead and ordered 2 pair of
Red Dawn speaker cables …bi-wire my B50s more improvements yet!!
At the time I was running very entry level Infinity Beta 50s the cmmd version …these were good enough
to show the difference in cables.
With myA21 unbalaced input impedance is 33k ohms
balanced input impedance is 66k ohms
The balanced input with higher impedance makes it easier for a wide variety of preamps to drive,
another reason why the balanced xlrs improved your sound…
No imagination here… it is real…so enjoy…I am with mine!!
Forgot to say the Beta 50’s are gone now have Focal Aria 948s sweeet happy upgrade!!
Thanks for your reaction. I can attest that the changeover from my old Aragon amp to the BHK did improve SQ. What I especially note is the improved spaciousness - which does depend too which cd I spin, but overall a much more easy, lush sound. I did not swap the amps though for a second trial.
There is more to the xlr advantage over the unbalanced rca interconnects…While I get the gist of it;
it would be valuable to look up balanced xlr connects and how these work to cancel out noise that
unbalanced cannot.
Your happy upgrade to BHK another big factor to increase your happy listening
Another Pangea user here. I’ve tried megabuck cords against them and they hold their own, at least to my ears.
I’ve used AC 9SE MKII’s on two P10’s, Parasound JC1’s, BHK 300’s and now a P20, two active subs, and McIntosh MC611’s. Pangea AC 14 XL’s on all my front end components.
Iconoclast SPTPC speaker cables and second generation Iconoclast OFE XLR’s. A revelation. Introducing Iconoclast was like a serious component upgrade.
AQ Diamond HDMI on my Auralic G2 stack. Auralic’s recommendation. The Leo G2 utilizes a aerospace mil spec coax that comes with the upgraded Leo.
I think you are right about Pangea. I have a high current Monsoon from Audioquest and it looks just like a Pangea AC14SE. I’m trying to find the exact specs on both to see the major difference. I know there are differences between the AC9 and AC9SE but is it audible to my ears? I will have to find out for myself.
Zu Audio sells previous generation cables through their eBay store. I’ve found their performance pretty darned good, esp when I get a good deal on the auction. Ymmv.

Pangea ac9se MkII use Cardas grade 1 copper in litz configured for bass, mid and high frequencies using a different gauge conductor for each frequency grouping plus have a silver plated copper shield over an aluminum foil shield as well…the other Ac9s do not… look up the ac14se mkII as well
Look it up here…

Now its time to buy home trial and hear for yourself…many have spoken their favorites.
If you don’t like you can return…money back…how good is that …but you won’t know till you
try…so friend get on with it …make a selection and go get em…
And let us know how it goes for you…deal or deal!!!
Thanks Davida,
I’ve got them on order. Hopefully they will be here tomorrow!
Glad to hear that’s real good…ok so what did you finally select?
I ordered both the AC9 and AC9SE to compare for my M700’s. I have a AQ Monsoon for my Niagara 1200 that the M700’s are connected to. The AQ Monsoon may be replaced with a AC9SE depending on performance. I have AC14XL for my source components. I use 4 AQ CV8’s for my Martin Logan Speakers. I have Red River XLR from my Stellar Pre to the M700 pair. I have AQ King Cobra for my Marantz Ruby SACD/DAC. I use AQ Carbon USB from a MAC Mini that is my Roon music server connected to the Marantz Ruby.
I’m always looking to upgrade and get better sound. I’m thinking about upgrading the interconnects and speaker cable. Interconnects I’ve consider are Cardas Parsec RCA for the Marantz or AQ Earth/Water/Colorado. I’m looking
to to replace the CV-8’s with either AQ Robin Hood or Kimber Bi–focal. The cable company is not doing its cable library due to Covid 19 so I will have to figure other ways to audition in my system.
I would also like to upgrade the Stellar to a BHK pre. Considering the cost of the speaker cable the BHK might be more of a logical upgrade. I also want to add a second subwoofer. I have a pretty big wish list/to get list for my system. I would also like to try the Direct Stream Dac in the system. My Marantz Ruby is what I refer to my more affordable Direct Stream Dac! lol
Thanks for your update…I hope the 9 se is mkII
version…mine did not take long to settle in burn in
about a week maybe less…improvements were noticeable right out of the box…
May your new power cords live up to even exceed
your expectations.
Best wishes Paul!!
Where will you place the ac9 and the ac9se?
Thanks, David
They are all mk II. I’m curious to see the AC9 vs. AC9SE and the AC9SE vs the AQ Monsoon. Thank you for all the help from you and all the PSA Forum members!
