Magico Magic (and unrelated matters)

I think you’re right with the forums…didn’t see any of another manufacturer either.

Triggered by this thread and my rather disappointing experience (in opposite to most rave reviews) with the Magicos at the last high end fair visit (see report with very short comments below) I started to read a bit more about them and why they are so expensive.

I got that the immense effort of the aluminum chassis has its price and that they also manufacture their own drivers, which certainly buries much more money than using suppliers. And especially the extremely rigid chassis has it’s positive effect. I also heard this at the show…they sounded extremely pure, transparent, neutral, revealing…just not emotionally involving to my ears in that setup (which is sold as a perfect match a lot in the press)

Not that I’m generally convinced about the opposite chassis strategy, but the most surprising and emotionally convincing experience of that show was a quite small speaker with intentionally resonating housings and a large external crossover design of something like 25 year developing time (not much smaller than the speaker).
