My recent experience with Revelation Audio Labs

I got a similar email. Seems he is serving the PS Audio crowd these days with feedback at least.

Al - have you compared the lps 1.2 to the sbooster? You had or have the other lps made by our matrix seller do you not?? What is the verdict for a matrix lps?

Hi Timm, I have two Sboosters on the way, both Mark 2 and one with the UltraMark 2 add on. It will be interesting to compare the Keces P8 with Uptone LPS 1.2 and the Sboosters. Someone here has been through this already and preferred the Sbooster. (Cardri?) I will see and share. Should happen in the next week. I also picked up Small Green Computer 7v linear power supply a week or so ago. It seems worthy.

Someone else has brought the Fidelizer switch to my attention as well. Gadgets, I want all the gadgets!!

(Cue lightening flashes, booming thunder, and crashing rain…) It’s arrived, it’s ARRIVED!!!

Not as impressively packaged as the ridiculous aluminum briefcase containing my Wireworld Platinum Starlight HDMI or the velvet jewelry box with my Kimber Orchid AES/EBU but an improvement on Cardas’ Ziploc bags- LOL! The RAL cable’s ā€œkinkyā€ stiff, distinctly handmade construction is a little but disconcerting though. I suppose the proof will be in the listening…

I just received word that my second HDMI cable is now on it’s way. I got a message from the USPS. My second velvet bag should arrive Monday.

Two Sbooster arrived today. I guess it’s time to go up to the lake for a few days and let all this lay. LOL

They are not shy about their pricing.

Looks like I got on the same mail drop. Going to hit my porch on Monday too!

I hope it is a better listen than the WWPS7 out of the gate. The best part of a new cable is playing the songs you used to know like the back of your hand. But find that hand now feels strange but so enthusiastically enticing to your pleasure center. You are no longer the master of your domain.

I must say I am Kramer in that iconic Seinfeld episode. What is burn in?

Well The RAL HDMI is significantly less expensive than was the pre close-out MSRP pricing on the Wireworld Platinum Starlight 7 @jpg55. Even with the close-out pricing I benefited from when I bought my 1meter WWPS7 last year, it was more expensive than the offer RAL accepted on A’gon for my new 1.25 meter HDMI.

So what is your impression so far MTB_Vince??

I am sad that I am going to drive away from my home probably Sunday night and the neighbor lady is going to have to rescue my cable. I have been waiting for it and it was not a long wait. But it is arriving at a bad time. Par.

The other thing that troubles me is as fantastic as the RAL HDMI sounds, the EtherREGEN / Bridge 2 combo sounds totally the same. I am going to fix that though, I’m going to change everything just for giggles. It might not be next week though. It’s a perfect Winter project, but sadly it is Spring. LOL

I’ve not compared EtherRegen->Bridge2 to Matrix->RAL but I have compared EtherRegen->Bridge2 to:

EtherRegen->Innuos->WWPS USB->Matrix->RAL and this combo, in my system, easily is the best.

More specifically in separation, clarity, musically, and ease of listening.

I wish it weren’t - I’d love to get rid of all the boxes, cables, and power supplies.

Thanks!
I seriously considering ā€œ buildingā€ my own cables given the outrageous profit margins that exist with cables.

I’ve done it with RCA ICs, and with the better cables, there is a reason they work due to their design, which is either impossible or very costly to duplicate at home. Thinking specifically WW USB and HDMI, and Iconoclast cables. I don’t know enough about the RALs to say for sure, but I wouldn’t know how to properly make air-dielectric strands and terminate them - particularly for an i2s cable.

It can be fun to try though! (Nota bene: Fairly easy to make ā€œsafeā€ ICs, but you may destroy your USB/i2s components if you get those sorts of wires wrong)

Cable manufacturers do work at generally higher ratios relative to parts cost. But with the ā€œrealā€ ones (not someone simply taking existing wire and putting fancy branding and exteriors on them) there was R&D, custom machinery, etc.

Yeah, I’m going to build my own car cause how hard could it be?

All the parts are readily available. Even way better than the stock parts.

jpg55 - apologies for making fun at your expense :pray:t2:

We’re kidding. But DO make your own ICs. Its fun and educational. This is assuming you haven’t already done so, and don’t work for an HDMI cable manufacturer for a living :cowboy_hat_face:

Quoting myself from above: ā€œI wouldn’t know how to properly make air-dielectric strands and terminate them - particularly for an i2s cable.ā€

Speaking of which, Al - when you get a chance, hack one of your RALs open and post the pics.:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

My point - and I’m sure there is always ongoing debate - I have a very jaundice eye towards expensive cables. My next update will probably be for subwoofers.

With the RAL, HDMI cable doing great things in my system has anyone tried the RAL, SE interconnect. I have to use SE my tube gear is SE only. I am currently using DH labs Silver sonics any input or experience would be appreciated on the revelation audio interconnects thanks.

The only cable I would endorse from RAL is their HDMI cable. I believe as far as interconnects goes, WireWorld is better. I have tried many, I mean many interconnects and I haven’t heard one as transparent and revealing as the WW Platinum Eclipse 8, RCA or XLR. IMO. Wally at Underwood gave me a really good deal.

I have the HDMI which seems nice, and the two headed USB which could be a match for the single headed Wireworld Platinum Starlight 7, but it is not anything like the HDMI. I most likely will return to using the WW as it is simple.
