New PS Audio speakers?

Well RMAF was supposed to be in three weeks so they must be darn close if they were to be unveiled there

If I were going to fly to CO to visit PS Audio and were seriously interested in buying $25k speakers, I wouldn’t do it during an event where I had to share my time with 50 of my closest friends. I would want as much one on one time as I could get. Then again, if they made various techs available to answer my stupid questions, and had a few free hotdogs (none of that fake vegan stuff), then it may be a date.

Or PSA priorities shifted based on parts availability across the line.

How many free hotdogs would it take? :joy:

I’d agree, drive out to audition with enough room in the vehicle to accommodate the speakers on the return trip. Arrange for an in home trial to seal the deal. Simple enough. At least that was my thought, but went in a different direction as the speakers are not available, and a solid release date is still an uncertainty. At $25k and below the Wilson SabrinaX are a strong contender. I ended up with Pure Audio Project Trio15 Classics. A totally different sound.

The other option IMO to really weed out the wankers is that PSA can offer $300 for flight and put their guests up at a hotel. If you buy (delivered), you get that amount off the price of the speakers. That will quickly get rid of many people probably. Then you get a smaller more intimate group which shouldn’t be an issue for the size of the PSA HQ which I have been to. Oh wait, I flew to see them.

There are many options…including just having 10ish people per week which again for a facility that size isn’t an issue at all.

For $25k speakers, we are talking at least three jumbos, with condiments. To make the sale, it would be wise for them to throw in a few beers too.

Hmm, you drive a hard bargain!

Is the FR-30 a 25K speaker? Where did this info come from? Any other specs?

As to price, it was targeted at $15k for a long time but I think more recently the speculation is closer to $25k. CEO Paul may have alluded to this in one of his videos but someone with more info can chime in if this is not right. I don’t have any inside info, just what has been mentioned above in this thread.

My personal guess is that they are letting the $25k talk percolate and then will come in at $21k or $22k and people will think “great, lower than I was thinking” and forget about the $15k target, haha. I’m 1 for 1 on predictions: predicted almost word for word what the company’s position on adding subwoofers would be, haha

I totally agree, I would want some “one on one” time if I’m considering spending 25k! Also, I would probably bring my “trade-in” speakers so that PS Audio’s trade-in partner, The Music Room, can easily take them off my hands while I am in the general area! (wouldn’t that be a slick deal for Paul, not having to worry about that part of it?)

I wonder what sales tax on $25k is? Might be in play for on-location purchases??? I know I’ve dealt with out-of-state dealers where I said I would drive 500 miles to drop off my trade-in and just pick up the gear as opposed to mail and they advised me that doing so would trigger sales tax necessities.

You’d pay local tax if you walk out with them.

If you sit there, order online, and have them shipped to your home then you pay the same as if you were at home and ordered online.

(edit: not a tax advisor, CPA, lawyer, or any other qualification where my statement should be considered anything more credible than “something I read on the internet”)

Indeed I bought my S400 Signature Edition after visiting Buchardt. Only difference is that we happened to be on vacation in the same place they company is located.

Some tax is also required interstate but there is no surveillance by the government. Isn’t that the case?

In general, for a state to require a business to collect sales tax for items sold in that state, the company must have a nexus, or a physical presence, in that state.

A nexus includes:

• A brick-and-mortar presence, which also includes a warehouse or a computer server.
• Delivering purchases in your company-owned vehicle in another state.
• Having an agent deliver a purchase for you.
• Having employees or independent contractors (a sales representative, for example) who do business on your behalf in another state.
• Having an affiliate location, or a related company that does business for you, in another state.

Otherwise, if you send items through U.S. mail or if you use a third-party company to ship to a state where your business doesn’t have a nexus, you don’t have to collect sales taxes on those items.

However, between state, county, and municipal governments, there are something like 2,600 - 2,800 separate taxing jurisdictions in the US. So for some companies, it’s just easier to collect the tax cuz the customer pays, right? I have no idea how PS Audio rolls on this issue with the direct sales model (no dealers should mean no “nexus” in states other than Colorado).

And even this info might be wrong. Governments are looking in the sofa cushions for extra revenue and the laws are in a constant state of flux.

The combined sales taxes in Boulder County are 8.84%, so ~$2,2010 for a $25K pair of FR30’s.

Many states have reciprocal state sales tax agreements where if you buy from one state and live in the other you pay the tax in your home state. Here in Michigan the state tax rate is 6% and I believe Colorado is reciprocal so I would have to pay the 6% to my state.

Yeah, yeah…that’s the ticket. I was on vacation and I was staying…I was staying in the same town where the company was located. What were the odds? Yeah, that’s what happened. Really. Truly. Can you believe my luck?
