P12 - hectic behavior / irregular output

I am writing to share an issue with my P12 Power Plant and to ask for your advice on how to proceed.

Earlier today, although I had not turned on the P12 at any point, I noticed that it had stopped supplying power. I realized something was wrong because the standby indicator lights on both components connected to it (my preamplifier and power amplifier) were off. These outputs were both set to “ALWAYS ON”.

When I turned on the P12, it displayed the message “REFERENCE FAILED.” I then performed a hardware reboot. Fortunately, after the reboot the unit powered up successfully.

However, I believe something is still not functioning correctly. Even with NO LOAD, the Improvement indicator now remains very close to 1x, and I also noticed that the output voltage is no longer being increased as expected. Instead, it remains essentially the same as the input voltage, and sometimes even slightly lower. For example, if the input voltage is 217 V, the output fluctuates only between approximately 216.7 V and 217.2 V. Interestingly, it seems to deliver 230 volts during the very first seconds after startup, then drops to the same level as the input.

My unit is configured for 230 V operation, so it is evident that the P12 is no longer producing the expected output voltage.

Also, during the various tests, I also got another message: “SHORT CIRCUIT”. After rebooting it went back to “REGENERATOR OPERATIONAL”.

The firmware and software versions reported by the unit are as follows:

  • Firmware: 0.02.12
  • Unit Serial Number: 195213
  • Bootloader: 1.13.00
  • Powermeter: 0.21.00
  • Oscillator: 0.57.00
  • WE: 1.20.00

Could you please help me identify what might be causing this issue?

Thank you very much in advance for your assistance.

Juan

I would like to add that I have received feedback form PS Audio’s SERVICE who say the unit needs to be taken to an official repair center and they the problem might be the regenerating board. Everybody is on holidays in Italy now so I guess I will have to wait until September.
