Thanks, @davida Very helpful.
Guys,
So on Power Plants, I’m curious what conditions would spark a thermal shutdown? Is it temperature of unit or power over load?
Most protection systems rely on both, overcurrent and high temperature can trigger protection modes. Power regenerators definitely use both. If you are on PowerPlay, please check the internal temperature graph of the P12, and compare it to the spec sheet to see if it’s overheating. One more thing is that meters show the steady load, but not the transient load which could drive the unit its limits for short period of time and cause it to go into protection.
Hi,
What do you mean by powerplay?
If you register your product with PSA Audio, and connect the power regenerator to your LAN, you can access your Power Regenerator statistics from the Support menu at the top of this page. Just click PowerPlay.
Looks to me like long term overload. Power Plants (like power amps), depending on the model, aren’t designed to handle more than about 60% of maximum load on a constant basis. Called a steady state draw. They are in essence a class AB amplifier and, like all class AB amplifiers, designed for music with its big peaks and relatively low steady state demands.
A big class A amplifier, on the other hand, is thermally designed to handle a big steady state load which is why you see them with so much heat sinking for so relatively few output watts.
PowerPlay is a web page which displays your PowerPlant’s incoming and outgoing voltage and THD, as well as outgoing watts and the unit’s internal temperature.
You need to register your PowerPlant on the PS Audio registration page and then log into PowerPlay.
It is a neat feature.
Edit: I just saw that @Serhan already provided this information. Not surprising; he’s good.
I registered with the proper serial number, the PowerPlay says I have no registered items.
Nuts.
I have this problem using Firefox as a browser, but using Microsoft’s Edge browser works for me. Do you have another browser you can try?
Was using chrome on a Mac.
How about Safari?
Safari didn’t work either .
I’ll try edge now….
Edge on Mac will not work either. Ill try on a PC…
Nada on PC either, Edge, Chrome Ect… Oh Well. I guess I will email support tomorrow.
I have all my my products registered , it’s just when I click Power play its says nothing registered.
Our good friend @jamesh will be able to help when business reopens tomorrow.
Awesome! Thx for all the help today guys! Including Paul
