P20--arrival and installation

I have only had the P20 for just under a year and a half.
Who knew it could make things sound better?

Special Napa trim P20.

I idle at nearly 1000 Watts. But i run all my stereo, HT, streaming gear on mine. Your incoming distortion is pretty high.twice Mine. Must be the meth lab neighbor is cooking again Thought you were going to run him off him off with with a new double wide?

Are you using a 20 amp power cord too? Or still a 15 amp power cord on the P20? You have lots of headroom to go.

I bet it is sounding great!

I am now back to the 20 amp Shunyata Sigma power cable. It’s hooked up to a 20 amp circuit this time.
I was surprised how bad the distortion was myself. I am guessing everything sounds cleaner now having the amp plugged into the P20. I am stunned at how little power my 200 pound Class A amp uses to drive my little Yvettes. Bonus.

Yes that is not a lot, for class A. My Plinius SA 103 monos gobble more than 800 watts in class A. For background music, I toggle them to class AB, where the consumption is much lower.
But what a difference in SQ between AB and A !

Yeah I really don’t understand why the number is as low as it is.
I should check it.
Nope, I’m rocking out and it’s a flat 250 watts. I seriously don’t get this.

Maybe 300 watts…

With that 1/3 setting it must be running on really low eco mode and compares to Yamaha receiver, not a 100W class a amp. Now why do you run it with that setting? If I buy a car with 750 horse power ,that is what I use,not 250hp…

Now swap settings to full maxed out class a operation! Get that beast going :sunglasses:

Excellent question, it makes perfect sense to ask that.

Class A amps are normally fully on taking all the power available prior to the needle drop. Gryphon makes a connection between its preamp and amplifier that cuts the bias to 1/3, 2/3, and full on. With the preamp as you turn up it switches to wherever it needs to be. I don’t have the preamp yet and I’m sad about that.

Anyway, it has front panel switches that allow me to pick. I tried 1/3 and it is capable of pinning me to the back wall in pure Class A. To unleash more juice would just consume more juice.

Think of the whales.

Or if you get too excited, think of baseball.

Ok thanks for the clarification of the workings of Gryphon gear.

I don´t eat or ride whales, but I have played baseball for a fun. It´s a little different kind here in Finland though that of the US version. We use lost enemy heads as balls and we have a lot of them…

But if that beast was mine I would say fccuk the fuel economy!
Did i just get too excited :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Yes you did but you did it perfectly.

I have been listening for seven hours straight.
How do I know if it’s better or not? I think it might be but it could just be all you wanting it to be better for me. But can I trust you guys?

No need to be mean. That was uncalled for.
