P20 & P15 Regenerator Performance Tweaks and Digital Stream Enhancements, plus BHK Preamp

Can’t we get some remote-controlled pulleys into the mix (dampened with sorbothane of course), somehow?

That is a unique approach that lets the footers under unit and cord be separated ingeniously another way to skin the cat :cat:. As long as the cord or cable is not providing its own elasticity. Got to love it!

You are a very funny man.

It should be easy to A&B without sorbothane in the suspension. Please le us know improvements. The P20 going to use floor suspension?

And breadsticks weren’t funny? I need to dig deeper.

The breadstick microwaved for 5 minutes will stiffen it up, then it may be better suited as a hinging beam because a bamboo scratch stick is too flexible for this purpose, I think, to support my one-ton power cord plus the big Isopuck 76.

Egg white brushed to the crust prior to baking will increase ability to withstand absorption of humidity that may affect modulus of elasticity. Sesame seeds are optional but add no engineering purpose.

Maybe I should use a breadstick instead of a backscratcher. It may sound better. At least it will taste better. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you look closely on the picture, you will see the sorbothane and cork puck is suspended with a wire that is attached to the cabinet above. It is not touching the floor. The sound is the best I’ve heard my system sounds! It does seem to lose a little bloom when I remove the suspensions.

I figured you would get a good bump from it.

My system has never sounded better either. I have a hard time pinpointing my favorite tweak anymore. They have all been additive. All have provided a clearer more live sound. My daughter the music educator visited. She played some music from a college friend’s tiny desk concert and stuff he self recorded and released and is now touring live. It was sounding incredible with imaging and soundstage and bass. Most of all they said it was just as good as his live show and sounded like him in person.

Here is the artist band. They are on Qobuz and Tidal He decided to quit his music educator job and see if he can make it. This was from Qobuz but also on Tidal. I expected a bunch of compressed awful recordings. But was amazed.

Here I am, new member of the absorber group, thank you again Vmax!

What do you hear different?

Yes I would love to know too.

Clearly openness! It’s immediate the effect, you are right. Sound is cleaner, bringing more clarity to music.

It seems that this tweak can work synergistically with M-1. The good of the fuse still present if not better. The bad (IMO) of the King is so mitigated by the absorber. Airy was a lack before, now is back. Some veils were provided by the fuse, now are gone away, almost partially.

Instrument separation and voices still wonderful thanks to the fuse. The feeling of a silent background I liked yesterday is a bit lesser, but it might be due to the burning in time of the fuse (3 in system at the moment).

I hear the same result as the silver when using cables, if it can help to understand.

The soundstage is also a bit wider or better I can hear some instrument pushed more on the left and right sides than before.

This was the single greatest contribution from the King of Tweaks! With high-resolution systems like yours, the benefit is tremendous.

If you want to try the tuning ring, start with the AQ Dragon HC to P20. This is where the most improvement made I felt, and there is a long thread on it too. Other PC may work too, but to a less degree, and some PC do not improve from it in my system.

The ring works on power cords but may not benefit other connections. I just tried a small ring on the AQ Dragon 48 i2s, it made SQ worse, the voice has lowered by 2’ (I have 7’ tall speakers), and less clear. So, the ring does not work in all connections.

I’m putting in and out the 3M absorber and have some doubts.

Even if improvements are evident in abundance there is a cons: that magic, that musicality provided by the third M-1 able to create an impressive silent background to records (incredibly less clicks and pops) is reduced by the absorber.

I need to better investigate positioning the sheet in different ways, a few millimeters back for instance, or cutting it a little bit.

That is a remarkably interesting finding. I added the absorbent sheet before I acquired 2nd Iconoclast XLR OPUCC, two M-1 fuses, a new Server/streamer, and some other tweaks. When I added tuning rings to PCs, there were negative effects on some PCs, or when adding too many. Therefore, the original sheet may need to be reconfigured because of the changes.

If you feel a smaller sized sheet. or even without it working better, then I want to experience with mine to find out if a different configuration is needed too.

I’m afraid I like more what I’m hearing without the 3M. Calm, relaxed and controlled mood is back and I love it so much.
I love the openness too provided by the sheet. Mmm.
Compromise is needed.
I have to go deeper with this tweak to find out how a balance is possible between the two qualities I’m looking for.
Hard times.

I remember how much positive SQ change made to my P15 when I first tried @vmax’s tweak. But it took a lot of adjustments, and it was a different configuration from P20. I may need to go through this workout again if you find a better sized absorbent. Thanks ahead :+1:
