Trying to update streamer - update hangs “processing”.
Multiple power cycles needed to get back to stable state.
Any thoughts?
First did you try to turn off streamer and then activate again? Then do update. maybe update in-between turning off and on.
After that If you are up for it, factory reset? then try again.
Thanks, yup, power cycle, stop/start streamer, done everything but a factory reset. Takes two power cycles to get past the spinny wheel stage after an update attempt.
Thought I’d give streamer a try since there was an update, haven’t been using it, like the depth/soundstage/detail of the LUMIN better.
Not motivated enough to call tech support, I’ll try a reset later today for giggles and grins.
Yeah sounds like some bad download data stuck in there. Factory reset or wait until next version comes out and it would most likely overwrite that bad one. Or like you said call tech support but my guess they will do remote and do factory reset. Not much in there to setup so reset may be easiest.
I remember you preferred Lumin U2 (my previous streamer) over PMG streamer on SQ, do you have a different Lumin streamer now?
Yes, traded up in the Lumin family. Sold the U2 for a good price and picked up a U2X about a month ago. Using an external clock(Mutec Ref10 Nano) w/ it and the Etherregen switch the U2X is connected to. Been playing with the USB(still using the Omega-X USB cable) and the coax spdif output(BAV Belden coax cable). Both are pretty close in sound. The U2X is a definite couple steps improvement in prat from the U2. As good sounding or better than the Perfectwave SACD w/ DSD64.

tried the factory reset, no luck. streamer fw update still hangs at “processing update”.
I am out of suggestions. Something got stuck in memory where they do not reset on a reset. wonder if the next one will overwrite? but I would call when you have time.

I like the fact that they are using AirPlay 1 vs AirPlay 2(which the LUMIN uses). I compared both yesterday and the LUMIN via coax sounds better, despite the mangling done by AirPlay 2.
Im confused. Where does airplay come into play if you are using Coax? I did see you said the Lumin sounds better than internal streamer. Are you using Airplay in that example?

Well I can see why you like the lumin better then. I would say thats the lowest quality streaming to the unit via airplay. Are you an Apple Music guy?
Been streaming locally and from online platforms since the late 90’s, so I’ve got a toe dipped in just about every pool.
Rarely use AirPlay, primarily from Apple TV or from my phone for SiriusXM.
Roon is my go to for daily listening -Audivarna is marginally better, just not as convenient.
With Roon, how do you compare the sound of
Roon Lumin → DAC
vs
Roon Internal Streamer/DAC
LUMIN is more musical, more depth to the soundstage and fine detail
Hate to be a pain, but was that when using Roon directly to both? ie no airplay
Yessir.
Spent a few weeks listening to the PMG internal streamer, through a few fw versions, and still hanging with LUMIN.

I like Lumin U2 a lot, so U2X is a great streamer I imagine. My current MU2 sounds more musical than U2 also (among other things). It will be interesting to compare to PMG 512 when I get it next month.
But the Roon core is within MU2 so I’m not sure I can compare apple to apple in my case.
Yep, i can see the attraction of all in one box if it sounds great. I was hoping the PMG Dac/Streamer would let me eliminate a box, and the combo sounds good, just not as musical as the Lumin plus a cable(or two :)).
I had hopes to read the built in streamer would surpass something like my Rose RS130. From what I’ve gathered so far, it seems like it’s a “not quite”. I too was hoping to slim things down. I may have to try it myself and see.
