Thanks Brian, I did not think of that. I need to learn more about switches. There goes another 4K![]()
You may want to contact PSA support, the internal streamer is sounding excellent. I did not think it could compete with MU2, but they are at the same level thus far.
I switched power cords so Shakata is on PMG and Stealth CGLE is on MU2. The reason is these two power cords have similar characters with these two streamers. By switching the cords it has brought these two streamers close to each other in SQ. If someone switches the inputs without me knowing, I may not be able to tell a difference. Under critical listening there is a difference, but both sounded cleaner, detailed, layered, and with incredible texture.
PMG512 is the best DAC from PSA, including the streamer.
Switch Ethernet cables and power cord. Yeah 4k. Sorry
Hmmm, is this the first comparison between PMG512 and MU2 on this forum? Anyone else have both DACs in the same system?
No and no, not in the same system, but auditioned. They were considered about equal. Next, that PCs matter.
Can’t remember if it was by Straightwire or the other Paul (?).
There are two previous comparisons between PMG and MU2 that I know of. But mine is after FW updates on MU2 which has improved the SQ quite a bit. Before the updates I believe PMG512 would be the winner. Also, if you read my earlier posts on the other thread then you should know that I am comparing orange to apple anyway. The setups are different. MU2 has ethernet connection where PMG uses WIFI. The IC and Power cables are different too, and they made as much difference as the streamers themselves.
But this arrangement is the most likely one for me personally. I listen to PMG512 all day yesterday, and I listen to the same playlists with MU2 all day so far. Both are at 60db avg since we have baby visitor at home. So far I like MU2 better again. PMG sounded a bit digital (only in comparison, you will never think it sounds digital by itself).
Too bad you don’t have the 333 onboard dac-3 to add to the mix! I’m highly confident it would be extremely competitive ultimately!
I know, two DACs are enough for me.![]()
Which stations do you listen to? Thx
Jazz De Ville Groove (Netherlands), Venice Classic Radio (Italy).
Hi Donald, finally have the internal streamer working with a strong signal. I am assuming it will sound better with some time on it. Sounds really good with very little time on it all ready about an hour.
Wonderful news! Did you do anything different, or it just happened?
You saved $4k on cables and switch, at least. Congratulations! ![]()
You’re funny
. I love saving money! I watched Delia’s video and went step by step and walah! ![]()
I started comparing between the streamer and the Hifi Rose RS130. They’re about equal, but PC matters to which one comes out on top.
This morning, I noticed when switching inputs from USB to streamer vice versa that the display always shows streamer after continuing replay from the Roon group, while playing through the USB input.
Anyone of you experiencing the same?
Hmm. Brian (I think it was) seemed to feel the RS130 was still a touch better. ![]()
Speaking of 333, any news on yours?
I’ve only had streaming issues using WiFi, not with Ethernet (at least so far). The latest firmware upgrade fixed the Roon compatibility issues, but with WiFi I’ve had to reconnect or reinitiate streaming without warning (or after leaving my system unattended for several days).
Don’t miss the Winters in Chicago, but hope to be moving back there soon (Evanston).
I do just that with a fiber optic from my NAS.
I fully believe in using Fiber to feed my main system router/switch. I really makes a difference.
