Problems with PMG 512 DAC?

Thanks for that info. I finally got wifi working and has been solid so far and can toggle between inputs and back to streamer with no issues. I am not a roon subscriber so hopefully wont have issues. Now to put some hours on it and will compare sound quality vs aurender n200 streamer via usb to pmg.

Nothing yet!

I hope he chimes in again to share his thoughts.
My test was going back and forth between the two, but without the same PC on them. The PCs are the Dragon and a Stealth v10.
The apparent (dis)advantage shifts with switching the PCs. Likely, with a further PC upgrade there’s more to be had.

Ever since that one day episode, PMG512 streamer has been steady for a whole week on WIFI with no interruption. It showed up in Roon every time it was turned on too.

During the last busy week, I did play the same playlist from both MU2 and PMG to the rest of family. One liked MU2 better, one like PMG better, and the rest heard little difference. Surprisingly I belong to the last group! PMG has sounded mellower than a week before, but MU2 seemed to sound a bit more relax still. Frankly they are sounding closer than they are apart now. This is interesting and also confirming that WIFI can be as good as wired connection. MU2 has Shunyata Omega and Muon Pro so I am extremely happy that I do not need the same setup for PMG streamer. WIFI is much cheaper! :wine_glass:

I believe both PMGs are done with break in, and both are endgame worthy!

No issues here either Donald with PMG dac with WIFI, it has been solid. The first 100 hours sound was on par with N200 with muon pro and usb out to dac but after 100 hours PMG streamer is sounding a bit better and probably will continue in that direction. I agree that is saying something with the expense with filtering and extra cables. I will listen to v-tuner and DSD internal storage through N200 and Qobuz connect with PMG streamer WIFI. Did you hear much improvement from 100 to 200 hundred hours?

The most improvement was after two days, then after five days. In my system PMG512 sounded a bit sharp (I would not call it bright). After five days the sound has turned smoother. I believe I got that impression because I was comparing to MU2 which has one of the smoothest SQ that I have ever heard from.

Then the family were visiting for a whole week, and during that time the volume was turned down at low 60db since we had baby at home. So I was not be able to evaluate the break in progress.

I turned up the volume today for the first time and I really like PMG streamer sound now, somehow it sounds very close to MU2.

Thanks for the feedback. That is high praise!

The SQ comments should probably be in another thread. This one is for people having issues, which has pretty much slowed down to a trickle.

I finally got around to trying the filter button on the remote control.

I always listen with the screen dimmed.

When any remote button is pressed the screen will light up temporarily.

However, when I press the filter button, the screen does not light up. I thought at first that the remote might have a problem.

But while troubleshooting I noticed that the filter settings do change from F1 to F2 to F3 as I press the filter button.

Can somebody please confirm that this is happening on their unit or is it just mine?

Same here. Display remains dimmed but filters are cycled 1-3

Same here too.
The strange things is, my PMG Pre display does light up, though.

my PMG DAC still loses sample rate display when I switch from USB to Optical but only if what is connected to Optical (TV now) is on. Loses all sample rates for all other inputs only (Opt still displays).

Also still unable to find Qobuz Connect and use the streamer - had it at one point, but it dropped off and nothing works to see it on Qobuz as an option anymore. Using ethernet.

On another note, my Innuos Zen Mk3 no longer functions - just looks to be playing a track but no sound and it stops and starts over after about 9 seconds - resets to 0 seconds and repeats ad infintum…

longing for my SME turntable McIntosh days of yore… never had these issues - kicking myself for selling … glad i rigged a BluRay player for SACD

Sure hope you can get your Innuos back up and running. Ugh!

Reboot your whole network back to and including the modem and then turn everything back on from modem to source one piece at a time. This should clear up the Innuos and maybe even Qobuz Connect on the 512.

It is not a problem but a question. We had a storming night in my area, and this morning I found both PMGs were shut down. All my other components were on standby, but I need to turn off and turn on from the back switches to reboot both (they did, thank goodness).

I wonder what caused it? Did anyone have this happened before?

I hope a forum member can get his Diablo 333 back up and running.

I am also having the same issue with PMG dac not showing up on available devices on Qobuz connect after working good for a week. I am going to try shutting everything off and rebooting. Hope that helps and wont have to do this all the time.

It’s like Windows 95 - reboot and cross your fingers.

How are you connecting to the PMG DAC? Via USB or PMG DAC Streamer. If via the streamer, then try the USB connection.

I would try restarting the Zen Mk3. Also, check for a firmware update (System > Settings > System Update). I recently applied an update to v 3.4.1 to my Zenith Mk3.

Am connected via USB cable. Am in the process of completely powering down the entire system and rebooting, will check again, but was up to date with Innuos software at last look. The lack of sound is in addition to a 5-10 second loop (it simply repeats over and over). I tried moving to the.middle of a song as well, same, 5-10second soundless loop from point of start. Am in contact with Innuos and awaiting a reply (they initially told me to clear my music cache, tried that to no avail).
