Very exciting…I hope the Mc-Auditors can schedule a visit very soon.

I too would love to be a beta tester. I’m a roon, Quboz and Apple Music user and would love to see how Airplay 2 works into the AirLens into my Directstream Jr. Very excited for this product!
Would be interested in being a beta tester too. Currently use Roon with HQPlayer, Qobuz, nas files. Hardware is separate computers for Roon rock and Hqplayer. Hqplayer naa to at matrix x-spdif 2 usb to direct stream Dac and BHK Pre. I also use Roon to a PI2AES to is2 on the direct stream Dac.
I also have a raspberry pi to a project s2-digital Dac in a separate system
I also use Apple Music and Sirius xm radio app on my iPhone
How does one apply to be beta tester?
Thanks all
very exciting!
Welcome, @deklerk !
I love the fact that @deklerk posted for the first time 2 hours ago and joined Mar 8, '12. Way to choose your words wisely! ![]()
Maybe, as the old joke goes, everything has been satisfactory up til now. ![]()
I think my profile shows I joined at that time too, but I actually go back more than a decade before then (to the first version of the forum). There were a couple of times when the forum software changed and we all started over. One time I had to change my name (added the “2”) just to get back in.
If everyone else is jumping on the beta than I certainly want in the Beta program if that exists. I really want to see how the air gap in the PS Audio compares to optical from Sonore.
Right there with you!
I really want to compare it to my Rasp Pi running RoPieeeXL and HQPlayer with a Pi2AES HAT via AES/EBU into my Pontus II.
I hate that I understand what that means
Your in a safe place. Most of us have heard the acronyms.
Hey, will the AirLens come with its own software?
Or Ice cream.
I hope it comes with ice cream. Butter Pecan in particular. With banana slices and a sprinkle of coconut.
Depends on what you mean perhaps. But if you mean software for the customer to use, then my understanding is that the answer is: “No”. Very passionate discussions about software in posts above relate to the AirLens being a Bring Your Own Application (BYOA) product.
Paul wrote on 7th March, “Yes, it would have been great but Octave SW is no longer. After 5 years of hard work and intense effort we threw in the towel. Sad day. Octave Streamer is alive and well and fixes the issue I have with Roon SQ.”
Incidentally, besides having bought a Silent Angel M1T 8GB Pi-based streamer since then… to create a media library from files on a NAS incl DSD and to send them via app control to a PS Audio DAC via I2S over HDMI cable with very very nice sound… I just took delivery of an exaSound S88 multichannel DAC. This too is BYOA. But there are various instructions available. AND it has its own built in UPnP server, which accesses 4TB of portable SSDs that I have hanging off of it via USB3. Having lots of fun with it myself. But without its own app… I am using MConnect… I would not recommend it or the AirLens to non-audiophile-wonks or non-Roon users.
PS: But maybe I am being too negative there. I would be able to recommend them to Tidal app users… as I understand they should work with that. I just cannot recommend most UPnP apps to non-geeks.
Ruin that good ice cream with coconut?
Am i missing something here? Can i just use Qobuz with the Airlens into DS or is there some other app needed also?
I was kidding guys. Especially to you Carousel. Unbunch thy undergarments. ![]()
@msaladino22 Scanning the posts and occasional limited PS Audio responses above, I am not seeing any official PSA confirmation on native compatibility with Tidal or Qobuz apps.
Paul did post in March: “The AirLens certainly supports UPnP/DLNA. No worries about that. It’s also a Roon End Point and it unfolds MQA.”
Interested posted in April: “Having a look at Qobuz it looks like you can use Airplay to stream it. So that should connect you up to the AirLens. I can’t seem to find the same functionality for Tidal though.”
Paul posted in May that they are waiting on the AirPlay certification.
Various requests for further info received comments back about having been burned too many times before when PSA said they wanted to achieve something and then there was a forum uproar when it fell though. So they are being cautious with info…
@aangen No worries. Besides the fun and games with ice cream, I thought you were actually asking about software. All cool!
I would be interested in testing the AirLens and there are a couple of arrangements that interested me:
