Wasn’t there a production delay due to chips or boards not being available? would be interesting to see who’s having the problem and who isn’t. JS.
I received mine in Oct during the sale but before the delay. I don’t have any mechanical problem with PST. I haven’t used it for about 10days and no problem getting out of the sleep mode and loading a disc.
Mine was after the production delay due to supply management issues and problems with a circuit board. Apparently the circuit board had incorrect sub-components on it. From what I can tell I got a bad one. The number of reboots while in standby was significant. It also required rebooting my DSD DAC as the PST/DSD had issues establishing I2S communication. Repeated DSD reboots may be what did in my DSD DAC. Strange to be sure. My stereo emitted an audible digital squeal as my DSD DAC went south.
Mine arrived yesterday. Been playing it a lot, and even left it home with my wife while I had to leave to conduct a wine tasting.
Absolutely NO hiccups, NO glitches, NO errors, NO puzzlements—nothing but great music. And I do love the solid “THUNK” of the disc drawer. Like a solid German car door, onby better!
Mine is a post production delay unit too. I talked to Mark too, but I didn’t get any feel for what the problem was.
I played mine continuously with a CD and then a USB inserted in the front socket. Not sure if the continuous play contributed to the early failure or if it was …
So is it recommend to put the PST into standby when not in use? Since it doesn’t use tubes I wouldn’t think it matters, but just wondering.
PS audio team
i hope the issues on my PST can be fixed with FW update
i love my PST, it took me weeks to burn-in
pls let me know when a new FW will be available to fix the control issues that i posted…

I put all my equipment: Gaincell DAC, M700 and now the PST into standby. Exceptions is when I may be gone for more than a couple of days.
I play CD/SACDs and eventually it will emerge from hibernation! I have the best of both worlds—have my cake and eat it too.
I have found that if I just leave the PST on all the time, it works fine.
If I put it in standby, when I wake it up, it’s pretty much unresponsive to the remote. And it indicates “reading” until I do something like eject, power down and back up, or just ignore it out of frustration and play vinyl. Life’s too short for this stuff.
I’m genuinely sorry for those who’ve had problems with their units. I completely understand the disappointment and frustration.
Mine was post-production-delay as well. It arrived on New Year’s Eve. I haven’t noticed any odd behavior (other than some unpredictability in controlling the fast forward/reverse functions, which I expect I’ll understand better when I’ve had more time with it, or maybe even read the instructions).
I keep mine in standby when not in use, but that’s only because I used to have a disc player that when left powered up developed a slight mechanical hum or buzz that was just audible across the room. I have no reason to think the PST would do the same, but now I’m paranoid. So when I use it, I hit the logo button, it comes to life, and everything seems to work as advertised.
Having said all that, I doubt I have 50 hours on it yet.
Glad to learn it is working for you. Mine is dead, my wife calls it our new door stop, and asked me last night just why do you need two door stops, the PST and the DSD, hah!
I was running the PST continuously to break it in, the DSD in Standby when not listening to my stereo. Ultimately after break-in both the PST and the DSD would be kept in standby, unfortunately the PST never survived the break-in process. As my stereo is a tube based system it is shut down when not listening.
Sorry to hear that! I’ve had a few glitches with my PST but it’s not really let me down. It sounds better all the time, and with the modded DSD I have now I am appreciating it a bit more.
Hopefully you can get both to and from the mother ship fully functioning in a speedy manner.
Damn! That sucks. Big time. Now you have to endure Fedex, again. Hope it all works out—PSA will deliver.
Lonson, glad to hear yours are working. The DSD is back to PS Tech Support for the second time. The PST performance and ultimate failure has shattered my confidence in PS Audio’s quality. I have three PSA items and none work as promoted. Based on issues with the first two the PST purchase was a bit of a leap of faith for me. None of them do or are expected to get heavy use as I am typically moving around from location to location a lot.
I’m not so much worried about FedEx, as I have yet to have any issues with them. PSA , is at strike three with me for the three components I have purchased. Out of the box PSA has not convinced me of their ability to deliver, just their ability to process my credit card. HaHa!
I’ve either been incredibly lucky or there has been a change in quality control or manufacturing. I’ve been using PS Audio products since the 20th century or so
and have had great performance and reliability. The only issues I have had have been my inability to follow technological computer system changes and upgrade software properly–when I just ordered cards from PS Audio those problems were no longer. Sorry to see you have a cluster of problems. . . so different from my experience.
Luck of the draw I suppose.
Well maybe. There are other possibilities of changes over the last two decades.
