Having added the Grid Protector to my system with great results, and having wrote my comments here and there on other threads, I agree with members who suggested to create a dedicated thread.
I’m using it with all the 3 switches set to II position, plugged into the Gryphon PowerZone.
The most obvious improvements are in the REALISM and intelligibility of the BASS, to be simple and concise.
The Grid Protector is a little magic box that conjures up a live experience.
I was very impressed when I was able to experience the Grid Protector in the Schnerzinger demonstration room.
I’m supposed to get mine on Thursday.
I hope it works just as well in my system.
Introducing the new Schnerzinger I3 Optomizer X. With the optional new Water-cooled Hindenburg feature you can easily expect less than a .009 deviation from L mode prime.
You know, sitting in my Captain Kirk listening chair, funny lights just the way I like them, and fairly decent sound, well shucks. It makes last weeks disturbing vibes just shrink into the black level. This audio stuff, it is not a hobby! It is for mental health improvement! Ease on down with whatever you are in the mood for. It seems nice.
To tell you the truth, I have been enjoying listening so much since the PowerZone arrived I was totally not thinking there might be a step up I need to find. I wasn’t looking. I will have to search for where to find one. Or did you put up a link that I missed?
Tomorrow my Grid Protector will be brought to me and I will probably be given some help with setting it up. I’ve heard that Grid Protector has a positive impact in most systems. But I don’t know how this works with your BACCH DSP. Maybe the nice gentleman can tell me something about it tomorrow. As always, you should try it out in your own system and blanket statements are often misleading. I would have to ask whether my source of supply can and may also supply other members. Then maybe I can pass on the contact.
Can someone explain if / when the Grid Protector needs to be powered? So far I realized somehow it’s for some passive and others have it active / plugged into a wall socket.
There is also a power supply for the Grid Protector. The power supply is used to charge its function; this usually only needs to be done about once a year. 15 minutes should be enough. Apparently there are also situations in which there should be better results with an additional power supply. It is recommended that the grid’s power supply be plugged into a different, separate power line if possible. It’s a miracle and I don’t understand how it works. But you can hear clear differences.
The Grid Protector comes with a fixed cable you can plug into a power strip and/or a wall socket, no conditioners. The closer to other hifi components the better the result. The central switch must be set to “0” position, while you can try different combinations with the PHASE and EARTH switches, between 0 or I or II settings. Once you find the best result to your ears, you are done OR you can go to a next step.
There is also a wall wart available, you have to plug it into a wall socket, not a dedicated line, better if a different circuit from other hifi components.
It allows you to set the central switch also to I or II position. This is a way to boost the job of the Grid Protector. Depending on your tastes.
