Ukraine tank busters as surplus weapons most likely.
Perfect for rabbits!
That’s a lot of rounds sent at that little rubber ducky—and they never got it!
I was thinking the same thing…not a good illustration of the use case for this weapon, as far as I can tell.
Still a pretty-darned impressive/scary piece of hardware…!
I believe that part of the video was to show how accurate it is by sending warning shots.
Here’s some more info:
That there’s a crazy Gattling Gun.
…and this may win the award for "greatest divergence from the thread topic"
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The tech is impressive and grotesque. Difficult to see a non-lethal use for it.
A Fighter Jet is a genuinely wonderful piece of crazy tech, and could be built without any weaponry just for the joyride (see Hawk Trainer Jets, for example).
If Bad People ™ are attacking, I want all this and more tech to be on my side.
…but our (as a species) prowess at creating such technology really ought to be a dirty shameful thing, not something to be celebrated.
Such is the conundrum of humanity, I guess.
These are random thoughts, and I looked long and hard before I decided to type it, but I felt I had to say it.
I agree with you. I file it under “Necessary Evil”. I worked in that industry for a while, now I work in Healthcare. Go figure.
Funnily enough, so did I, for a couple of years, but consumer goods (Unilever) was better paid
Certainly. Not all forms of aggression are immoral or amoral. Aggression can be ‘protective’ rather than solely destructive. It seems that many contexts of human relatedness, for example parenting or healthcare, non-negotiably integrate aggression with love if they are to be meaningful and promotive. Growing-up is, essentially, aggressive, given we must reject a loved-‘authority’ in the service of finding our own ‘authority’ over ourselves. Intentionality (in the service of what?) and degree are some important dimensions to this.
So many atrocities seem to stem, to a degree, when individuals/nations attempt to get rid of their aggression by putting it ‘somewhere else’.
@elk - fantastic topic title!
always amazed in these forums when so many members have so much knowledge about, experience with and passion for military weapons
I think it’s simply fascination with technology of any sort. I was geeking out on skylights yesterday .
i get it, but i’m such a tree-hugger that military stuff just gives me a stomach ache
I didn’t start thread but was responding to a post about what happened to depleted uranium laying around. When discussing weights on equipment. Unfortunately military products for defense are a need since man invented weapons to hunt or protect himself from predators. They ended up a tool for greed, provocation and vengeance True they are sickening.
Thanks for saying so. I personally won’t bring up this subject again. The forum should be a happy place.
haha, no, i’m not THAT delicate!
As long as you have @Elk’s blessing, you guys can discuss whatever the heck you want!
Lots of threads I ignore bc they don’t really grab me. Watches, baseball, Barbara Walters. AIRLENS!
Have at it.
