Your probably right… but who can afford $297,002.00 to just hear a few tunes that I wont care for anyway!

Actually, Roon Radio appears to have improved dramatically from where it used to be. I loved it then, I worship it now. Endless streams of wonderful music, much of which I was unaware of before. I wouldn’t enjoy life as much without it. But that’s me. You might require a different strategy. But you really do not know what you are missing. I can live with that.

If it was only $297,000.00 that would be ok.
That extra $2 makes it too extreme.

Doing a little research…

I’m in the market for a higher-end player more in line with my Luxman L-509X (hence all my earlier questions!), but I’m trying to decide if I’ll really use one in my main system. (The gear is in a closet.)

I have an Onkyo C-SV5L SACD player that’s usually in my den (where all my CDs are), but I moved it to the main rig for a bit. (Had to slapdash up a shelf or it would have been stacked on the other stuff, all beverly hillbillies like.)

I can choose between analog into the Luxman or digital coax into the Pontus II.

I like it.

It sounds nice, to coin a phrase.

If I decide to get a Luxman disc spinner, it’ll slot right in. :+1:

Oh, I did hook up one of those IR repeater things in the main room so I can use a remote control. Works great for both the amp and the cd player. Result!

I’m in love with my Jay’s Audio CDT3-Mk3 even more than the previous CDT2-3.

And the Jay’s into the Mola Mola DAC is the best digital playback I’ve heard so far. Is there no limit to how good the humble CD can sound? Presuming an excellent recording.

The good old CD has lots of life in it. It has suffered from bad implementation for decades now. I just added a DS MKll to my system and I’m rediscovering my collection of CDs.

How does it compare to your Ethos?

They both sound wonderful, but they do sound different. The Ethos seems warmer and easier to listen to. The Tambaqui is extremely fast and detailed. I like having both.

Jay’s review surely influenced your decision,

I think it’s Al influencing Jay. Gryphon Apex, Techdas Air Force 3, and the wacky Tambaqui. Al was there first with all three.

I don’t follow Jay Who, so it is all a bit beyond me,
