Great news! I was beginning to think there would be a Senior V3 before we Junior owners were blessed with a new firmware.
At the risk of getting flamed, I almost feel it would be better to not announce a new firmware until the final testing has been done on the code and PIC. This thread is into day 24 and the Direct Stream Snowmass thread had an announcement around the start of November (maybe earlier). I know there were a lot of unforeseen obstacles (PIC issues) but this has been quite drawn out! Again, all thanks to Ted and PS Audio for their efforts but ignorance is bliss (sometimes).

Yup - major deal-ish Thing. There is this massive gap between the Roons of this World (who never tell anyone anything in advance) and the PSās of this World who share Everything in advance.
Iām very torn about it, as there are plusses and minuses to both approaches. The problem with this approach is that everyone expectsā¦a lot. In realtime.
And this release has been unlike every other one, in that the DSJ FW release is significantly behind the DS Sr. FW release. Bear in mind, however, that the DSSr. Release went through a longer-than-usual period of sorting it out.
Just got off the phone with Darren in the car on the way home, and sad to say, it is looking like Monday at the earliest.

I canāt believe the anticipation that has built over recent weeks ā¦ Iām totally looking forward to the Junior upgrade.

Agreed, there is good and bad to each approach. But I watching enjoy the process and knowing how a product or firmware is developing. I also enjoy participating in Paulās excitement.
Given how this group likes to cross-post and speculate in many different threads I do not believe it would work to have a spoiler thread/subforum for new products or firmwares; information would leak all over.

All these talks could have being avoided if both software were released on same day. There is no explanation for releasing update for costly products before lower cost dac. Every customer should be treated equally.

I can tell you that as of last night I completed the tuning process for Music Room Two and the system is sounding better than it ever has. Ever. While not perfect, it is so much better than Music Room One that I could not stop listening and had to be dragged out of there by Terriās phone call demanding I return home and prepare dinner.
Wow. Now that Iāve tamed the bass issues I am just flabbergasted how good it sounds.
All this as a way to suggest thereās nothing standing in our way to make the final decision on Junior.

Firmware updates for each product should be released as each becomes available. Otherwise updates that could be in usersā hands will be artificially held back from release until other updates are also finished.
Here, this would mean Snowmass would not be available to DS Sr. users even though it is finished, and Snowmass V2 would not yet exist, just so DS Jr. users did not feel left out - a poor result.

Paul. Does Snowmass for DS senior sound any different in room 2 compared to room 1? Just curiousā¦
I donāt know as I havenāt had time to make such comparisons.
Does the new version fix the annoying remote volume issue?
