I’m hearing more detail all across the spectrum with Windom. Bass is very deep and controlled. Imaging is not as wide. My setup doesn’t really have much front to back imaging and that hasn’t really changed with Windom. I really do recommend the SU6 unit. It’s starting to come down a bit in price too.
Thx Scumbag for the updates, I’d invest in a SU6 soon. Interesting to see the comparison with Bridge II:stuck_out_tongue:
Well I can only give a comparison of the SU1 ((with DC power modification) versus the Bridge II in the DirectStream Junior. The Bridge II in the DSJ is good. Perfectly acceptable but when I switched between it and the SU1 I heard more dynamics, slightly more richness and generally more resolution. Now I have the SU6 I believe I’m getting more of everything. The SU6 gets rid of the tilted treble (which was may over riding observation with the SU1) and has a firmer foundation. The SU1 seemed to have an exaggerated bass, perhaps the lower bass was a tad overdone. The SU6 just gives every thing a nice solid thickening as bass extends down. Imaging is great and stage depth is great in the SU6. Treble just seems more natural in the SU6 - this might be a by product of the oven controlled oscillator chips. I am currently running a Wireworld Silver Starlight 7 HMDI and a Phasure Lush2 USB. There’s a bit of a balancing act between the USB and the HMDI. The WW brings a really extended, detailed bass but can sound hard in the midrange and treble (with the “wrong” USB cable). The LUSH2 is pretty “lush” (no false advertising from Phasure) and has perhaps a softer. Midrange is a bit forward in the LUSH2 which I actually like as an attribute. So combined they sound great, to my ears, in my system.
Thx heaps Scumbag for the review with Singxer product
