You may not like hearing this, but many people prefer Snowmass (3.0.0). It’s available in Downloads -> Product Update Archives -as Snowmass V1.
Wouldn’t it be fun to switch back and forth and compare…

As I understand it the basic FPGA code that Ted did for Snowmass has not changed with any if the second level updates (i.e. 3.0.X where X is the second level update sequence number) made on the Snowmass release. Also, according to Ted, you run the risk of having bugs in the things not controlled by the FPGA if you do use the latest release. Unfortunately, right now my plate is very full and I do not have the time to switch back and for between second level releases. The time that I have when I can sit down and actually enjoy listening to music is rather limited right now, so I will pass on 3.0.0 right now.
Any of the Snowmass are a great improvement over Red Cloud. But the different Snowmass versions really do sound different and might be worth a few minutes to explore
My conclusion as well, After going back and forth through all three of them, was most content with 3.0.0
Agree about 3.0.0. however, surprisingly, I’m currently enjoying 3.0.5
I’ve had the Singxer SU6 for a few days now. I’m currently running it in. Out of the box it didn’t sound great. It still had a lot of the XMOS U208 sound character that I remember from my modified SU1 but the bass was a bit soft, the midrange was recessed and the treble was bright. After getting 60 hours on it, things are getting better. The bass is amazing - full and powerful but not bloated and has good definition. Midrange is getting better - it is getting a bit sweeter and fuller. Treble is a lot more acceptable. I believe that it will still improve and I’ve left it running with Roon 24 hours a day over the weekend. Once I get a listen in a few days I’ll report back. Fingers crossed.
Yes. I hear that as well.
I have deleted all of the politics/global warming posts.
Please everyone, no politics. Audio is controversial enough.
I’ve finally installed Snowmass and after a first listen on a dead cold system I’m fairly convinced @tedsmith is some sort of a sorcerer ♂. As others have said the soundstage depth is surprising. With only OS updates I’ve now had three different systems. My DSD is the best audio happy accident I’ve had. Thank you.
Thanks, Elk.
Indeed, I get itchy to write my opinions as well (because of course they are right!!) but as our esteemed leader has pointed out there’s quite enough controversy to go around in audio.
I still haven’t figured out why everyone doesn’t agree with me. I’ll have to
ponder that one.
We expect nothing less from you Paul. Finally, continue with it. But your video about just using power does not fall into good soil in the EU. We are different consumers. Since it is your company, you can do whatever you want. But you will be forced to think differently of EU law if you want to sell your products in the EU.

What video are you referring to Michael…?
Anyone use an Innuos ZEN via Ethernet into the Bridge2 for it’s external streaming or ROON Core capability?
Hello guys, it’s Mario from Venezia, Italia.
I’m trying just now to upgrade my DS Sr to Snowmass and there is no way.
I’ve downgraded it to Yale but I’m not able to load Snowmass.
I’ve tried with all the versions but nothing.
Can you help me please?
Thank you very much.
Hello to you all.
Mario
Hi Mario,
We need more detail from you. Are you saying you have done firmware changes before and you are certain you are following the whole process correctly? Such as making sure the SD card is empty of files before copying Snowmass files onto it? Please explain what the last couple of steps were and what “nothing” means. What does the DS Sr does once you install the SD card and the power is turned on?
Mario,
be sure you have the files in the root of the SD card. If they are in a folder they will not apply. If you look at the SD card contents and see a folder, open it and select all the files than right click and copy. close the folder than paste them to the SD card.
Dear MarADyr, thank you for your intervention, finally I’ve been able to sort out the situation, I was doing almost all correctly, the only thing that I’ve tried to change is to copy each zipped file individually in the SD card instead of copying all the folder and in this way it worked well!
Now it’s time to listen to Snowmass…
Kindest regards and thank you again!
Mario
Excellent news!
The easiest way to get the files to the card is to click on the zip file and select extract all than point to the empty SD card. Lately the process has been putting them into a folder. You would than have to move them to the root of the folder. Glad you got it to work.
HI Scumbag, not sure if you could share you Singxer SU6 current performance with Windom update now.
I have been a Bridge II user till now, but I really look into investing a DDC such as Singxer SU6…
