Sprout 100 as a preamplifier

Not sure if this has been asked before but can the Sprout 100 be used as a preamp? I would like to purchase the S300 and use the Sprout 100 as a preamp. I will eventually buy a proper preamp later this summer.

Thanks for your help.

According to it’s spec it can produce upto 3V

#### Analog Audio Output
Connector 1 Stereo Pair, Line Level RCA
Output level, maximum 3.0VRMS (+9.5dBV)
Output Max Gain (using Analog Inputs) 8.45dB

Thanks for the response but what does that mean? :grinning:

It means that if you connect a pair of phono leads from the sprout RCA Analog Output connectors to the RCA (hence unbalanced) inputs of the S300 there should be enough voltage to drive the S300.

The S300 spec says:

Sensitivity for rated output power 1.01V

So, I assume you mean it would work. I want to make sure it does not damage the equipment. Thanks.

Yes, it’ll work. WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONNECT THE SPROUT’S SPEAKER OUTPUTS TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN A SPEAKER, JUST USE THE VERTICAL PAIR OF RCAs.

Gotcha. Thanks again.

Kindest Regards,

I suggest emailing PS Audio directly. If they endorse the setup, and something goes wrong, you’ll have their email to back you up.

I emailed them and they said it would work and sound fantastic. Thanks for your help.

I have My tv connected to my Yamaha v485 receiver With Optical Digital Audio Cable with Klipsch 600m for left and right and Klipsch r-52 center and a Klipsch sub ! my Question is ! My receiver has no phono input Im thinking of getting a fluance turntable with no preamp should I get the Sprout100 for a preamp for my phono ? Being I can a regular phono amp cheap . If so Will my receiver still Control the volume ? Should I plug my subwoofer to the sprout 100 too , being it goes through the sprout first? Oh will the sprout 100 characteristics shine through? My receiver has a 2 channel mode too . Thanks . I’m very Naive to this …so all info welcome
