Not as good as the Village Vanguard, but fun all the same. Live at The Trident in CA. The Japanese add their “special sauce” to the remaster so it sounds amazing.
I’ll check it out. Hard to match the Scott LaFaro & Paul Motian rhythm section.
While searching for The Bill Evans Trio “Live” on Qobuz I inadvertently selected the above. A nice circumstance, as it falls in with a Bill Evans aesthetic. Sonics are enjoyable as well.
No success on tracking down “Live” on Qobuz.
An interesting 2018 set from Russ Johnson, Max Johnson, and Tim Daisy. From Chicago’s jazz venue The Hungry Brain.
Herbie Hancock ‘Crossings’, a Rhino High Fidelity reissue. I’m really enjoying these new Rhino releases.
I couldn’t find the Bill Evans ‘Live’ on Qobuz or other streaming, so I bought the CD.
I just found this gem from Native DSD in DSD256 that blew me away with such gorgeous analog sound that you usually associate with vinyl.
Analogue Productions, remastered by Kevin Gray.
I love this album but every version I have, including and especially the Craft One-Step are anything but relaxing to listen to. Miles’ mute blasts a cacophony of seeming odd-order pain.
Somehow, Kevin Gray has managed to just soften the upper edges. Nothing seems to be lost but the discomfort. I’m glad I bought this one.
I actually enjoy the sound of his Harmon mute.
It is a signature sound.
Then you’ll really like this remaster.
I’m a SpaceCadet! I have both the AP & Craft LPs! The AP is the 8 years old 200 gm LP release. Not sure I need another copy. I also have the XRCD.
Maybe it is my mood, or the coffee, or the sunshine, but I found this recording to be exceptional. Wide soundstage, which I don’t usually get, great recording of the trumpet and sax. Blew me away. Pun intended.
Fond memories with this 1978 SteepleChase release, Witchdoctor’s Son.
The saxophone interplay on Magwaza continues to move me.
Seems to be a Wadada Leo Smith Golden Quartet I do not have. This one with Vijay Iyer, Shanon Jackson, and John Lindberg, I’ll check it out later in the day.
