Subwoofer size and connectivity

I just hooked my F12 up in the same manner as you and it’s working fine. Maybe your bare wire ends aren’t making good contact. I used bananas on all ends.

Appreciate the link and recommendation of transformer/sub cable length.

I will try the direct connection first then the Jensen SP-2SX next if I have any issues or just become insatiably curious as to its potential. But at least now I can take the first step of aquiring the subs without apprehension. I thank you for that.

Mine are connected that way now and are also working fine. Something is not making contact.

Doesn’t this device defeat the purpose/benefits of using the high level inputs? If you don’t care whether or not you use the high level inputs why not just run the sub off of your pre-amp.

Its an impedance issue. My Cary SLP-05 preamp feeds via XLR my bel canto ref600M monos which have a measured (not bel canto spec’d) imput impedance of 95 Kohm. JL Audio D110 sub has an input impedance of only 10 Kohms. So if i run my SLP-05 rca outputs in parallel with my ref600m the net output impedance drops to less than 10 Kohm. According to Stereophile measurements my SLP-05 output impedance rises to 3.4Kohm at 20 Hz. Yields a net ratio of about 3 at the subwoofer frequency. Massive potential for bass frequency attenuation. Sure I could crank up the SW level, but it does not resolve the impedance mismatch, only increase distortion level.

Gotcha…
