Sunday Morning

Yeah - that is a very serious 30/50 gearing for hills, no wonder 4500ft is no big deal. My Project One (flat black, no decals, in pic) is a little over 12lbs with integrated CF stem/bars, ceramic BB, KEO CF Ti pedals, with Stages power meter, DI2; Dura-Ace and ZIPP 202 wheel set. I built the bike from the ground up. My P1 uses the DA compact crank 50/34 and 11/28T cog. My KTM is my training bike with same ceramic BB, DI2 KEO CF TI, compact crank, however, GoPro 4 set up with additional battery pack on stem for 12hrs video. One pic per second integrated into a nice video I send home when I do a special ride like climbing snow bowl in Flagstaff. That is my video bike. Then my Ridley is just used for my Hammer trainer. I have completely taped the headset for sweating. My Cervelo I raced Ironman with…

Have owned Specialized Tarmac SWORKS w/ double tap SRAM RED. Do not like SRAM gear train at all; however, that was 10years ago. I liked my Tarmac, not the BB… was shiet…

Just out of curiosity, what is the speed on 6-8% grade with electric working, assume 30/42 for that grade? Better, what cog gear are you using for 6%…and associated speed… this will give me an idea of my speed climbing versus electric or is it assisted?

I’m using a 34/32 on one bike and the stock 9100 D/A rear mech works fine without even a b screw adjust.

Then you have a special cage cause the standard cage is 28T max and could push to 30T w/ adj…I have the special cage on one of my bikes, just forgot which bike… will check…

You are running a GS cage (32 max) as I am on one bike and SS (28 max) on the other bikes. The box below is for my KTM w/ 11/28T cog… DI2…

I always use the long cage. No reason otherwise from practical experience.

Yeah - I never use the GS (long) cage; thought I had one bike w/ GS cage and I don’t. GS increases the probability of a bent cage as it is longer and more exposed. I thought of going this way a while back, then discounted it. In addition, I really never climb grades steeper than a sustained 18% so a compact crank and any cog over 28T (max) is really not needed. My climbs are mostly 6-8% sustained for miles…

with the Ebike climbs are usually in 2 or3 gears higher than with my Nomad. Much of my climbing is very steep and technical. Many climbs call for 30/50 here.
SRAM AXS is absolutely the best drivetrain I’ve used. Seatpost is also AXS. Cable free perfection.

Not into bikes but looks like some cool gear and phenomenal exercise!

Quick response to the Buffalo mentions…

It’s 72 and sunny in Buffalo today, it doesn’t ALWAYS snow, but yes, winter weather is a thing in Western NY. I was born and raised here granted, but have lived in Florida, Boston and Northern Virginia. While each has its charms, I always return home

Buffalo like anywhere else is what you make it, great boating and outdoor activities, good restaurants, sports, etc,etc what makes it special and why people persevere through the winter months is the people. Hard working, kind and charitable …The City of Good Neighbors!

Plus Tim’s which we’ve adopted from our friends north of the border

Hope everyone has a chance to listen to all those amazing systems this week

I remember the Tim Horton’s Pop Up stands at the Factory Outlet Mall in Niagara Falls, New York and the restaurant across the road is awesome. Can’t remember the name though. It wasn’t Pete’s Market (although that place is awesome too).

I ain’t goin’ back to Hamilton any time soon but living in Ottawa was always good times and great memories.

OK, so just catching up to the top of this thread - and you SW’erners can Have that Hot Dry stuff.

Just moved to Boulder a year ago, and as a Lifelong Midwesterner, it is the most godforsakenly Dry place I’ve ever lived - and I know it’s got Nothing on the Southwest. But is fab and beautiful, and has the odd tree, and seasons and so on, which I like.

Nutty for an October morning yesterday - but that same day it was sunny and beautiful, and tomorrow it will be in the 60’s and sunny and the snow (powdery, not at all like Midwestern sludge) will be gone.

I live in Toronto and we have an office of our family business there. Hamilton is up and coming. Getting very trendy and full of artsy focus. Yes it has some issues but you might be surprised.

I’m also from Minnesota, and a buddy of mine who has retired to AZ says he needs to leave 5-gal Homer buckets filled with water throughout the house in the summer or the paint will peel right off the walls. (He comes back to MN in the summer.)

Hamilton, I’ve always compared to as the smaller version of Newark, NJ. And that’s not a compliment. I have some very close and old friends in Hamilton who I keep in touch with via FB, the rare phone calls, and sharing lots of pics of each other’s lives/families.

When I went back a few years ago for work related stuff (yeah, Canadian who lives in the U.S. going back to Canada to work for an American Company), nothing changed. I’m biased but it’s my City and I love to hate it . Toronto…the city I love to visit but no way I’d ever live there.

This Summer in Scottsdale was a Scorcher but at least the A/C is finally off in the Apartment. I don’t miss the -40°C with the Wind Chill Factor up in Ottawa. Ah, yes. The glorious sound of the Snowblower while my Toque has snow getting blown all over while I fight the snowdrifts building up in our 8 car gravel driveway and no fencing anywhere (rural North East Ontario - Smiths Falls).

“Snot freezing down my nose”. Maybe because I’m born on Dec. 15th and supposedly there was a snowstorm in Hamilton on the day I was born is why I hate the snow & cold. Mind you King Crimson played their last gig on the day of my Birth. Which is probably why I’m such an ELP/King Crimson fan. :grinning::guitar::musical_keyboard::drum:

My commute to the office is roughly 15mins on surface streets and I pass (7) Tim Hortons on my way. they are literally on every corner…they even built one in the hockey arena complex (go Sabres) now if people will stop selling their tickets to Maple leafs fans when Toronto plays in Buffalo, I swear it’s like a home game for the leafs sometimes!

It’s not the heat - it’s the humidity. :grinning:

Yes, that is true - most of the Snowbirds here in AZ leave their thermostat set to around 85, and then set buckets of water throughout the house so that the humidity level stays up inside the house. (not sure about the paint peeling off of the walls if you don’t do this, though!)

Go to an Ottawa Senators game at it’s 50% Buds (Leafs) fans and 50% Sens fans. I’d always wear my Leafs Jersey to Sens games :joy:, According to Torontonian’s, it’s cheaper to see a Leafs game in Ottawa & Buffalo including overnight in a hotel. We Maple Laughs Fans are proud to say we have the most profitable team in the NHL with the worst record season after season. 52 years in a row. God forbid we actually win the Cup.

Due to the Toronto Elites, mere mortals can no longer afford to see our Crappy Leafs in action at a home game. Austin Matthews from Scottsdale is great Hockey Player for his age. Guess what ? Leafs vs Coyote games are sold out all the time in Glendale, AZ but the prices are reasonable.

@rajugsw - saw TSO at that stadium in Glendale a few years back. They have their Christmas show the beginning of DEC there… it was a really good show

Sunday morning revisited…

5+ years later and my system has changed significantly, but some things remain the same

It’s still beautiful in Buffalo, burning a Left Coast Farms Blue Dream, vinyl has been spinning since 6am, and the Bills are again playing!

I believe I have visited this site every day of those 5 yrs. Life is good, I hope that everyone enjoys this Sunday morning and many, many to come!

Best,
JP
