Those are the steps.
Does your DAC have the upgraded Edcorr XS4400 audio transformers? I suspect that if your DAC does not have these transformers, then youâre in for a real treat if you decide to do so.
Received Sunlight memory stick for DSJ yesterday did the upload. I only use the optical input and usb input. Optical worked but usb had no sound so I went back to windom and everything worked. Should have left things alone but wanting Sunlight I tried to upload it it again and then did not have any sound from either inputs. Now frustrated I went back to snowmass and had no sound still and then went back to Sunlight and still have no sound at all from inputs. Each time I uploaded I checked to make sure the versions where uploaded on the screen, and checked all inputs on DS Preamp! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
This is the first time Iâve heard this happen to someone. I donât doubt that you did your due diligence, but you were making sure the volume was up each time? When the DAC updates, it sets the volume to 25 and depending where the preamp is set, you likely wonât hear anything until you turn it up.
Hi James, I finally have sunlight working and figured out that auto input no longer seems to be working with the update. I just have to select the proper input each time via front panel display.
I should have thought of this when I saw you have a DSJ. As you concluded, the automatic input select no longer works on the DSJ with the installation of Sunlight. (The DS never had auto select.)
Good detective work on your part.
It only took me 5 hours on Friday night and about 3 hours on Saturday morning to figure it out lol. Looking forward to the new DSS when it comes out. I may have to make the jump but I have always been amazing how good JR is. I just upgraded to the BhK Pre and couldnât be happier.
Best Wishes
Michael
I have a problem I upgraded my DSD from windom to sunliight with no problems. It is connected to the new DSD sacd transport by IS2. my soundstage for the two or three sacd was really good. Yesterday I got a new redbook cd. Put it in transport and received an overwhelming amount of hiss/static. Thought wow-opened another new cd same thing. All the redbook cd (over 10) show up as such on dac and transport both. ALL rebook cd play with this terrible hiss/static. ALL sacd play normal with deadair backround noise. I reinstalled sunlight same thing. checked all connections. Now, I am stumped. What should I do?
Thanks
Mike
Seems odd and I kind of want to blame the transport. Iâd try power cycling it with the rear switch to start. This shouldnât have anything to do with Sunlight.
of course that worked!! i was turning everything else off and on!!! I tell my kids all the time. turn it off reboot. there is a wonderful redbook concerto playing right nowâthanks so much Sunday is not sunday without music!!!
FYI, if you have PST, might want to check if your unit has the latest FW2.3.1.
I think I may have experienced once what you have heard: it was shortly after installing Sunlight.
I was playing a playlist on my Innuos Zenith MK3, and at one point decided to add a song as the NEXT to play in the playlist after the one that was currently playing.
Once the Orange Squeeze app started streaming the ânextâ song, I heard this horrible harsh metallic sound.
At the moment, I thought that the synchronization between the Orange Squeeze app and the Zenith was lost or may be between the Zenith and the DSD Sr.
So, I stopped everything, exited and then re-entered the Orange Squeeze app, re-started the song and all went well.
No problem ever since.
Very strange.
May be I did experience the same thing as you, or may be it was something else, but I never got this problem again.
Soon after installing Sunshine I reported in this thread about the screen flickering. With Snowmass and Windom and previous peaks the screen was rock solid. I noticed that some others have suffered this issue.
Would Ted and/or someone at PS Audio be able to address this issue please.
I have nothing but praise for the improved sound quality.
Upgraded the software on my DS Junior. Initial problem was that I had to reboot (*Turn the power off twice) to get any sound through our system. Now, I get pops/skips/dropouts when using by Bluesound Vault 2 to stream. Are there issues between Bluesound and the upgrade? Is there a fix? Can I re-install my old software (It was whatever the last one was called and I had no problems upgrading with the only difference is a change from a Cambridge streamer to the Bluesound)?
Thanks
I was hoping James would help you since I canât see anyway that the flickering could come from the FPGA. Please contact PS Audio service.
Thanks Ted.
Have you played around with the display brightness? I remember one of the updates maybe back in 2016 had a weird beat frequency with the display and there would be a constant wave going through the display. That has since been cleared up though. Iâd be curious if you went back to Windom and if the flickering stops.
Thanks for the quick response. I did submit a support request. Just read your reference to brightness and now I am really confused (Nothing having to do with brightness, although I noted the following when I got into that portion of the system and set it to âdimâ)
It looks like I still have Windom running. On the weekend I downloaded the Sunlight update on my Mac. Dragged the download to the USB drive and then went about installing it DSJ off USB inserted DSJ on Removed the drive and the previous mention of restarting the DSJ twice. Might I have downloaded a part of Sunlight effectively messing thing up?
As an aside, I also sent a support request to Bluesound just in case the Sunlight update attempt was merely coincidental to some failure on the part of the Bluesound.
Iâve been running a Node 2i and have no issues via the Coax input (until it died yesterday - see my post elsewhere) and the AES/EBU XLR input with a Neutrik Balun (not homebrew) on my DSSr.
Donât really have much more to add.
