Worth a shot that way. I think wherever you put it will be an improvement.
Recived the Sdfb today and early Impressions are good. Currently using it with DAC and it’s a noticeable improvement over the SR purple fuse.
Considering returning the SR purple that’s in my amp and putting the money towards another sdfb instead.
Glad to know you find it positively effective.
The SDFB is one of the few such tweaks that I have experienced an immediately perceptible improvement with. Mine is in use with a PSA P10 Regenerator.
Cheers.
My SDFB arrived today. I’ve been following this thread and found a used FB in Europe.
I decided to open it up and will put it inside my balanced isolation transformer which currently has an SR Purple fuse.
I’ll be replacing the Furutech Fused IEC with an un-fused ETI legato IEC, so no sluggo needed.
Thanks for sharing the internal photos. I’d been considering doing the same with my power amp to avoid the extra power cable connections. I wasn’t sure what the internal board dimensions looked like, & if it would fit. It’s a bit smaller than expected, which is great!
Yes, the board itself is quite compact. It will also give the opportunity to rewire it with some nice OCC cable too.
Of course! Neotech in many diy ventures. Lately I’ve also been having great luck with Mundorf stranded Angelique on the cheaper end, and stripping down Grand Activation AC-55 on the more expensive side of things.
Thanks for the inner view of unit. Looks well made and not overly complicated, so not much to break or go wrong over time. Should last a long time this way.
Also allows tweakers to improve with better wire or direct wiring it.
Not sure it be worth lossing the warranty or the
option to be we refigured to a different fuse rating.
Just ordered my second SDFB for the Amp and returning the purple that just bought for it.
Looks great, how does it sound?
So far the bass seems tighter, yet more solid and a slight reduction in noise. Soundstage is wider and a little deeper.
This is compared to an SR Purple.
Sadly, there is not any room in my DAC or Amp to try to install an SDFB, plus can no longer solder since I lost most use of one hand.
I received the second SDFB today. I left the graphene sluggo in Amp and replaced the Aliexpress silver with the copper Sluggo from Vera Audio. Only has a few hours on it and liking what I’m hearing. Much better than the purple fuse and has more warmth and bass over the silver slug.
Going to give them a while to settle in before trying them with different tubes in the Amp.
Sounds very promising already. The SDFB really does seem to be the way to go, especially with the cost of some some of the Audio fuses nowadays.
Which pigtail are you using with the new SDFB?
Still deciding what route to go with power cables. Currently using 5-15P to C13 Adaptors. With Christmas and buying 2 SDFB just wasn’t in the budget.
I’m not convinced spending a huge amount on power cables is worth it for the gear I currently have. I can understand and hear how increasing a hair thin wire in a fuse helps. Our how interconnect and tube change sound quality.
Just feel there’s other upgrades that are better for my system at this point over cords that are in the thousands of dollar range. This is just my opinions and are no way meant to start any type of power cable discussion too many of those in other places.
More than likely I will make some new power cables in the next month or so. Been thinking of starting with some diy material from Ice Age Audio, if I hear an improvement move up from there.
Definitely go the DIY route if you can. Even a basic screened cable at about $5/m is worth trying. I use some on some of my gear.
Mark of Verafi Audio is offering 25 percent off an order, ending today. Yesterday I splurged and ordered another SDFB and Graphene Sluggo, to use with my Decware ZROCK2. One was great, two was an improvement, three surprised me at improving things still. . . what will a fourth one do? I’ll find out soon.
Has anybody else tried a Swiss Digital Fuse Box, or added additional ones to their system?
My fourth one should be arriving tomorrow.
Hey, Lon.
A question for you that might be of interest to SDFB Newbies:
Based on your experience with multiple SDFBs, if you had to buy just one to start, which piece of kit you would buy one for to get the biggest bang for your buck?
TIA
