Very well done
What are the speakers all that fine gear connect to?
LS50s I bet.
Well, they ARE the finest standmounts out there, so, why not?
A fine speaker, but I have been a fan of planers most of my life and
all that gear, along with Shunyata cords and Iconoclast cables, are
driving Magnepan 1.7’s. No in your chest bass but the rest is pretty good
and they just get better with each upgrade. Looking at the new “condo”
Maggie, AN3, Piega, and others. Guess I will hold the crown as Worst System
to Speaker Cost Ratio for a while, but I’m ok with that.
The shelves and plinths are DIY two ply MDF boards painted black with solid
maple borders mounted to HD brackets or on spikes. Solid, affordable, but labor
intensive.
Nice work.
And it looks very tidy behind the components. Does that rear panel hide the cabling? (Like, do you have openings in it for the cables to go through, and then all the spaghetti is hidden from view?)
I own a pair of LS50s, they are my main speakers for my cabin system. I like them.
There are no hidden cables. The wall brackets are 20” deep that allow 3”
from shelf to wall and the component to wall depth is 7”. I had to buy longer
brackets to accommodate the very stiff Iconoclast cables. A current photo
would show that it is not as tidy as this older shot.
In my bedroom system I own a pair of Watkins Gen 4 speakers, I play them as much or not more than my main system, just really nice sounding speakers.
I love mine. Although I still may get a pair of those Maggie LRSs. I have yet to read a bad review and I’ve always wanted a pair of Maggies.
Very nice design! Did you use shelf standards? I see shelf brackets, but can’t see how they attach. How deep are the shelves? I need to build a new rack and have shelving material but need to decide how to support the shelves.
L -brackets from Home Depot work really well. A piece of plywood between bracket and wall helps to spread the load. If possible, mount the turntable shelf to studs on an outside, load bearing wall.
sick.
Said the man who has the same set up in black😉
Doesn’t everyone have that set up? LOL. My amps are silver, the rest black. That arrangement is really good looking
Thanks. I honestly don’t know that mounting components to the wall verses
shelves that couple to the floor have a distinct advantage. I do know that
ball baring pucks quiet things under the transport, DAC and preamp and that
the amps and regenerator like to set on some mass on spikes. I have had
subs and a turntable in a past life and wall mounting was the only way to go.
Do you have a picture? I might have seen it somewhere, but unfortunately I forgot. I remembered Orosie’s because of his magnificent view into the forest when you look at his system.
Update:
Tweaked loudspeaker position (closer together, more toe-in) + moved listening position accordingly (midfield).
Corista panels to treat front reflections.
Floating the system now on Stillpoints.
Added an extra shelve for the Matrix.
Effect: enhanced HF clarity, way deeper soundstage with improved horizontal localisation.
Coming up next weekend: Uptone EtherRegen.

My silver BHK 300s are on amp stands behind the speakers. I used cutting boards and some pro isoacoustic feet. Not the best presentation, but it sounds good.
