Thanks, really nice set up. Are those Klipsch horn speakers? Do you have additional subwoofers I’d does the speaker BHK300 combo provide sufficient bass? I refer to frequency range, not boom bass.
Beautiful setup. Are those ATC speakers?
LCD-4 headphones?
Not sure if that was directed to me, but, I do have a pair of Rythmik subs to reinforce the bass below 40Hz. Horns are JBL.
Thanks, I did direct it to you, really nice set up.
I like horn speakers and have come to the conclusion that one can only achieve a good bass floor with active SubWoofers. Due to real estate issues, preferably built into the main speakers.
I like the AURALiC streamer, it’s the most versatile I have seen it seems to play anything you throw at it especially DSD (Blue Coast Music Records) but also my lossy AAC purchases from iTunes. But I still like spinning disks too.
Those main speakers are 2 way, with 2- 15" woofers each. I could live without the subs, but, since I have them, I use 'em. I bought them to use with my previous set of speakers.
Current system in under construction living room(will be my listening room when done)
. It’s not pressurizing the room. Thinking of adding stereo subs.
I had those speakers in long term loan before with Moon amplification driving them. Wonderful speakers!
I covet your speakers Kyle!!
Thanks man! I am really happy with them.
I was seriously considering that exact set for my latest system but they were physically just a little too big and slightly over my budget for the project. I ended up with D&D 8c’s and don’t regret the purchase at all but one always wonders
I have a set of LCD 4’s that I love. I doubt that they sound much different than the -2’s but I had the budget for them and went for the top shelf.
I’ve described my active two channel system and that it’s the L/R of a 7.1.4 system. There’s a lot of absorption, including panels and large RPG bass traps. Here are a couple of photos:
Main L/R Active speakers, my own active method using a DEQX (digital equalisation and crossover) crossover which provides three coax S/PDIF outputs to three Directstreams then into a pair of BHK 250s for mids/tweeters and a Crown CE4000 (located in the adjoining room) for bass. Under the 55" 4K OLED TV is a pair of PMC MB1s which form the centre channel. There’s a Denon X6200 receiver - the sub channel is split between a pair of my own MDF boxes (each with a pair of 15" Gauss drivers) driven by a Crown CE2000 amp plus a Velodyne DD18+ for the very low stuff. There’s an OPPO UDP203 4K player. There’s clearly a lot of other boxes with old CD/SACD players, some old turntables etc. etc.
Rear photo - the settee that I sit on, Sony 260 4K projector, four Leak 2075s as surround/rear speakers, four PMC Wafer 1 speakers on the ceiling:
Beautiful system. Is that room really in the UK because it looks bigger than most rooms in the US.
Just kidding, of course, I am envious because I have to live with a low ceiling.
Chas
My house was built as a small detached house. I wanted a large room and built the room as an extension. The room is 30’ long with half of it 20’ (the rear) and the main speaker end is 22’. I’d have loved a high ceiling but common sense dictated that it’s just 8’ because of two additional bedrooms upstairs.
I could have added that two P10s power the system. The source tends to be a Melco N1A server via USB to a Chord M-Scaler to upscale to 24 bit (88.2 or 96k). When I use Spotify I go via USB to a Mutec MC1.2 to rescale/reclock to 24/96. There’s a sprinkling of Wyred4Sound Remedy reclockers. There’s a real birds nest of wiring behind the main boxes!
Wow, you’ve done a beautiful job! Really impressive!
WOW! Awesome space! I’ve listened to the those PMC monitors without the bass bins. They have seemingly limitless power and dynamics. Neutral sound and wonderful vocals. Congrats!
Thanks Kyle - your speakers with JBL drivers are also interesting - I’d love a pair of Everest DD67000s (Although I’ve seen them at shows here in the UK they’ve never driven them properly, instead concentrating on the K2s).
I need to build out my ceiling in the basement. Still have open joists up there.
Dude. That is a shrine to music. Really awesome.
Thanks for sharing
Great to see the pics, we’ve discussed this system (in terms of crossovering) before:)
