System Photos!

Hi Kaarmstrong, I have several common components (PS Audio DAC, BHK pre, BHK300). I have the VPI Classic 1/Dynavector 20X2 VPI/ADS/Lehmann Audio Blackcube SE II phono preamp in my system. Did you ever have the Classic 1 previously in your system prior to your Prime Signature? I am thinking upgrading the Classic 1, or the cartridge, phono preamp, not sure. Thanks.

What are the adaptors you are using for PSVane 6SN7

zheng, I did not have the Classic before so I can not compare but I am very happy with the Prime Signature. Sounds like you have a very nice system.
Thank you

I ordered the following from tubedepot.

The socket saver was simply to lift the tube higher to allow clearance.

There are several others that have done something similar in the BHK Preamp Tube discussion on this site which you can read about.

Thank you

Can I ask,
What jumper settings do you have on your BHK for these tubes?

Significant improvement over the “usual suspects” in your opinion?

Thanks.

Time to upgrade from Revel F36 to Sonus faber Sonetto V.

Upgraded or considering to upgrade? Would be interested in your thoughts regarding any improvements.

Hi Gazjam,

I use the PSVanes. I went through a few before trying these. What these have for me is a lower noise floor and better timbre and texture. Best described by the effect on violins in classical music. Before they came through with a kind of sheen (for want of a better term) but with these they have texture and body.

I’m reviewing them now and considering the upgrade. I love the Revels, which I have had for some time, but the Sonus fabers are better in almost every way. Better imaging, punchier bass, and the mid range (noticeably, the upper mid range) is clearer and more articulate. The wood, leather top and aluminum speaker rings are eye-candy, but very good eye-candy.

Wow, those are lovely speakers!

And reasonably priced.

You described that in a way I can totally relate to.

That timbre/texture thing is a big part of what PS Audio kit brings to the table, so if I can have more of that…great.

Gazjam, I have the jumpers set to 6v/4mA. I had tungrams 7DJ8 tubes before which I thought were better in almost everyway over the stock tubes. The CV181 bring everything the 7DJ8 brought but are smoother on the top end which was my only complaint of the tungrams.

Thank you for answering.
Good enough for me, I’ll do that!

Thanks for the reply. I am considering an upgrade as well - sometimes next year. And the Sonus Faber’s are on my list.

That would fix my appalling habit of resting beers on my speakers :grinning:

Marvelouse system. Always liked Aerial Acoustic Loudspeakers & MIchael Kelly is one of the nicest guys in the industry.

Thought I’d bring this thread down to earth with my current p&d system. The good thing is that the odd bit of paint wipes off easily.

Thank you Patrick. The Aerial 20T V2 are something special.

Guess what is new in my rack?
Two Moons (600i & 380D dsd) replaced one Lyngdorf. Step up in sound & also something nice to look at.
