Turned out great. I am in the hunt for a new audio stand and that gives me a few ideas. I had a local source for a custom stand, but the pandemic did them in, so my search continues. They were using slab walnut, oak, maple or hickory in a industrial or steam punk design. Similar to this but with better finish and aesthetics:

I’m lucky enough to know friends who cut down the all-thread legs and made the shelves. He gave them to me unfinished (just sanded) and I used oil on them. That gave them a nice even finish that is soft to touch. After I get the P15 I’ll probably lower all of the shelves to get some space between the speakers, I just wanted to have the flexibility of trying different shelve positions before I cut down the legs anymore. Materials cost was close to 75% more than it would have been pre-pandemic. The steel was approx $300 and the walnut was $450.

Thank you

Thank you Scott

What is used to control pipe ringing effect? Can I assume sorbothane or something like that is used at slab contact-points?

Well I have not purchased this, and the photo was to provide a general idea of what I am looking for, but not necessarily black iron pipe with multiple fittings. How would you damp it? I am thinking along the lines of a modified welder’s bench or similar. Substitute the steel work surface for slab black walnut, and have 3 shelves 20" x 60" x 2". Slabs supported by inverted spikes, similar to a Target (of England) stand. Add spike feet. I don’t think sorthobane would work in this case, but maybe some one has tried it or has other ideas. Another option I am considering is the Butcher Block stands. I do like the look of the Atacama stands but must source them from the UK. Not ideal for my situation.

60 inch is quite broad and may be more demanding in terms of design. Though I own and like their sonic performance a lot, I had no intention to promote Atacama racks :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:.

Have you checked out Timbernation’s wares?

I like the look and I think it approximates the aesthetics you are looking for.

GL.

Thanks for the recommendation, checking them out as well. Like what I see considerably more than Butcher Block Acoustics.

You bet.

IIRC, they have some variants with threaded steel posts as well*.

Have fun with the search.

…another variation on the conventional component stand using heavy duty wall brackets if you have the wall space. I have upgraded this approach with quartz shelves, Vodo Isopod feet and Herbie isolation pads on the brackets. I don’t know if wall beats floor coupling, or vice versa. Rear space can also come into play with suffer than God cables like
Iconoclast and some power cords.

I’d think cable management as you say could be an obstacle. Nice clean look to it though. So you say you’re a fan of PS Audio, eh…

Ultra neat. I like the silver and light colored timber.

Spikes act as energy sinks, but so do Isopods and Herbie pads.

Been at it again… Simplified the system, changed speakers again, and purchased a Sony Blu-ray player…

Hi @Chops ,
Did you have electrostatics before?
