Beautiful dedicated space! Just thinking out loud, but with the controlled directivity of the horns(I also had a pair of Cornwalls) have you experimented with the diffusers to the left and right of your setup on the back wall instead? Just a thought

I have a heavy quilt on the back wall. Is it better or worse than a diffuser?
Short answer, it depends. The blanket will mostly absorb frequencies in the mids and upper range where the diffuser is designed to evenly reflect sound in the same general band. Experiment with conventional items like books and cd’s on the wall to see what it does.
That’s a well thought out looking setup. My room is also open behind the chair and I think it helps keep the bass problems in check a little.

You are absolutely right. Having no wall or a treated wall behind the sitting position really helps tame or eliminate nasty resonances.
That’s an interesting room…I guess to achieve a similar symmetrical situation on the left wall compared to the right space into the room, you’d need strongly absorbing (not diffusing or reflecting) material on the left in the area of the right breakthrough, right?
Good observation, but I actually I do not have the corner base traps as shown in the left corner at present. With planar/dipole speakers it was a must, but the FR30’s image just fine without absorption. Very happy how the speaker plays nice in the room.
I can’t explain the why, but the Infinity Modulus speakers are now in a new environment. I should say not the best environment, and even cringe worthy speaker locations, but suprisingly still sounds good. The first photo is of the system (put away when not listening) that includes a Parasound P6 preamp, PS Audio M1200 monoblocks, one svs sb3000 subwoofer, a Panasonic UB9000 everything but SACD player, and no Infinity control box. The P6 does have a high pass filter that cuts off the lower frequencies from the M1200’s and therefore the modulus speakers. I set that at the Infinity (Arnie Nudell) recommended 140hz cut off.
The speakers, when listening, and here’s the cringe-worthy part, the right speaker is right next to the arm of a couch, and the left speaker is next to a chair. Even though imaging does suffer, this room definitely is more sound absorbing than the regular location, and the speakers sound cleaner. The Parasound P6 could be helping in this regard, and the better DAC in the newer Panasonic versus my older player/DAC could also be helping.

You are welcome any time but looking for some major upgrades this year to bump it up. Maybe BHK600’s, AirLense, DACIl, (or another steamer/dac/pre combo).
The stock market is not making this addiction easier.

I think no visual of a system is better than any great looking system rack. I just moved my system to the side of the room with long interconnects to the monoblocks. The sound has been improved greatly. Partly it could be psychoacoustic effects…but I don’t care. Without a system between the speakers I have a lot easier time imagining a stage with performers. LED candles are currently lighting a stage for Cassandra Wilson. The blue lights from the amps have been blocked by albums to eliminate any sign of a system.
