thx i just ordered 1
Doing my part, staying off the LA freeways during the storms.
What better way than some music, backgammon and Bruichladdich Classi Laddie on ice.
Yeah, It’s a burden.
The hidden stuff in the closet behind the wall.
Nice setup!
What’s the kit atop the amps?
TIA.
Thank you,
Put together two Purifi amps last year. When it gets too warm to run the Pass amps, I can easily change over to them.
The Pass space heaters are lovely when it’s cold, though.
Cheers,
I’ve added some acoustic treatments. Then I noticed that I had room on top of the abfusers for my lava lamps and eyes of the storm.
Long Live Lava!
How do you like the abfusers?
They helped with the soundstage depth, and the bass traps on the left and right cleaned up the bass energy in the room.
I still need to get some abfusers for the first reflections. I will probably order those in a couple of weeks.
Love the blue lit Turntable Nook!
(originally wood storage I’m guessing)
So in 1980, at 16, I thought the new Pioneer SX-3800 was the one thing that my life could not possible live without. I had (have) the brochure and it was more valued, pined over and gawked at than any hidden playboy magazine. I knew that receiver so well that I drew it from memory one day during our ever dull grade 10 social studies class. (I saved enough $$ to get one that summer.) I couldn’t draw a stick man picture to save my life but I had a pencil, a trig triangle and a passion:
That is/was quite a box!!!
Thank you,
That Oracle was a gift for my wife 30 years ago. When we remodeled, she designed that as a way to show it off.
The tonearm cable is kept short 1.25 meter by feeding it through the wall to the Stellar Phono on the other side. I can then run balanced to the BHK preamp.
Here’s a few shots of the listening area. Behind the seating is a 24’ Nana wall.
Fantastic room!
Thank you,
It was actually an enclosed porch (made without permits) when we bought the house.
Fortunately, the space was grandfathered in. Perfect to start over and do it right.
I imagine it sounds WAY BETTER opening it that way!
Jealous here!
That’s an obsessed audiophile! I remember drawing cars (or trying to) but never audio gear! That’s fantastic!
Obsessed audiophile - in TRAINING…
And one still has these old drawings & things when they still live in their childhood ranch house… because moving is nature’s way of forcing you to weed out your superfluous belongings…
After I got the SX I ripped the old flip down clock timer out of my creppy all-in-one stereo and made an audio timer with the addition of some pressure switches, toggles, outlets, and a metal project box. Good ole Radio Shack. Even used the radio shack nibbler tool to cut out the rectangular holes.
I also had a panel of switches on my headboard that controlled lights and one connected to a 120V motor on cables and pulleys which opened up my curtains.
My mother lived in a constant state of wide eyed trepidation. “Don’t you burn my HOUSE down!”
Seeing as I was NOT allowed to tap into any existing house wiring… I tightened an elastic band under the lower plate of my bedroom light switch, tied it around the toggle to pull it down (off) and tied a string around the toggle - it went up to the ceiling - thru an eyelet, across the ceiling, thru another eyelet and down to just above the headboard and cap-locked into a dangling Grolsch beer bottle. Lift the bottle for lights out, pull it for lights on. Low tech smart home.
I’ll admit I used that until smart home stuff came to be…
I am in love with those chairs. The way you put up the turntable is brilliant.
the garden with the tree is the most beautiful sight. Congratulations for the rest.
I had a SX-3700. It got me through High School & College. Good Times !
Love the C20s with the dedicated stands!
