Nice and neat. Unfortunately neatness and I don’t get along very well. :worried:

@rajugsw - I owned a set of Bose 901 speakers in 1981, man that was a flash from the past picture… very cool and thanks for sharing… it’s all about the music…

Your welcome cardri.

They do sound like crap when not setup properly. The EQ is the secret sauce. Series 1 & 2 are the power hogs (a 50wpc Mac MC50 did not “cut the mustard”). Series 3 - 6 are what I think started the Bose bashing. There are better systems out there. But I’m just having too much fun in this Rabbit hole.

You mean like this Baldy ?

When I use a pick, I use a “Dawg”. A David Grisman pick for mandolin which produces a very warm, sweet tone on any type of guitar.

Phew, much more affordable.

I’ve got a few Dawgs scattered around, and you’re right about it being warm. Too warm for me I think tho… Another one I really like is the Wegen 2.5 Trimus.

You and I would get along OK.

How tall is that room? It makes the Maggies seem short in the photo!

It’s 40’ deep, including the kitchen, 20’ wide and 18’ high. maybe 14,000 cubic feet!

Nice room for planars.

Any issues with boomy bass nodes around 28 Hz and 56 Hz due to the length being exactly twice the width?

I’m so jealous. I am still waiting on my 3.7i pair to arrive, first pair had shipping damage. Awesome pic.

None that I’ve measured or noticed, the Maggies are down in output way down low anyway…Thought about running the cjs as 280 watt monoblocks, but no real need. Do like them biamped.

If memory serves, the 3.6/3.7’s begin to roll off at around 45 Hz, so the room could actually provide some lower octave extension.

How about some Quad electrostats to match?

I’m still a while off new speakers (this blew my budget in January!)

I hadn’t been thinking about those tbh. I don’t think my local dealers stock their speakers, I’m not keen on the look of electrostatic speakers and I’m not sure if 86db sensitivity is the ideal match for tubes. Currently casting eyes at the Q Acoustics Concept 500 and the Tannoy Prestige Stirling and Turnbury. Will get down to the dealer when it’s time and get a proper demo with them if possible.
